Yolanda C. Hernandez passed away peacefully on January 21, 2024.  She was 77 years old.

Yolanda was born on July 21, 1946 in El Paso, Texas.   She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Porfiria Contreras and her sister, Timotea Pedregon.   She is survived by four sisters and two brothers, Anita Garnand, Alicia Pruitt, Irene Garcia, Martha Contreras, Joe Contreras and Eddie Contreras.  Yolanda was the loving mother to four, namely, Victoria Hamilton and husband, Billy Hamilton, Yvonne Aguilar and husband, Jose Aguilar, Michael Hernandez and Jacob Hernandez.   She was blessed with 10 grandchildren:   Sierra Marcum and husband MacLaine Marcum, Alexandria Nelson and her husband, Zander Nelson, Isaac Hamilton, Brianna Rone, Jesse Hernandez, Logan Hernandez, Mandy Hernandez, Armando Aguilar, Michael Hernandez, Faitlynn Hernandez and four great grandchildren, Tristen Howard, Jax Dennis, Luna Marcum and Azriel Rone.

Yolanda lost her husband Armando in death in 2003 and her son Michael in 2008.   It was at this time that she gained joint custody of Michael's 4 children and was deeply and lovingly involved in their upbringing.   Yolanda found her greatest pleasure in her family.  It is undoubtedly because of her example that she leaves behind such a close knit family.    She set the tradition of "family dinner' that her children and grandchildren hope to continue.   She loved to dance, eat and be surrounded by those she loved.   She was a loving mother and grandmother, and equally loving to all her nieces and nephews. She was deeply loved by many.   She leaves behind many joyful memories.

It was Yolanda, or "Yoly," who invited Jehovah's Witnesses into her home in 1985, in Bethlehem, PA.   The Bible truths she learned moved her to express her interest in a family Bible study to Armando.   The family moved to Lewisville, Texas in 1986, and it was here that they were baptized as Jehovah's Witnesses together on July 16, 1996.   Many in her congregation remember her warm hospitality when hosting Bible study in her home.   Yoly's confidence in Jehovah God's promises carried her through her difficult journey with illness.   To say she was strong is an understatement.  Those who knew her well will remember her for her faith in Jehovah, her strength in adversity and her courageous spirit.

Yolanda's memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 4611 Kirkpatrick Ln, Flower Mound, Texas, on February 10, 2024 at 12:30pm.
