William Otto Ziegler (Bill), 81, of Lewisville, TX, passed away June 24, 2023, at his home with his family at his side. He was born in Pinckneyville, Illinois to the late Mildred and Rudolf Ziegler October 7, 1941.

Bill graduated from Southern Illinois University (SIU) in Carbondale, Illinois in 1964 with a BS in electrical engineering and later earned a MS in business administration at SIU in Edwardsville, Illinois. Bill served four years in the United States Air Force. During this time, he met the love of his life, Marilyn Moored and they married January 21, 1966.

He was a broadcast engineer at CBS TV in St. Louis, Missouri before beginning a 30-year career as an engineer for Continental Telephone, later becoming GTE Telephone. After retirement, Bill continued sharing his love of engineering by serving as a volunteer to the students at Lewisville ISD's Dale Jackson Career Center.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents. Survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn; son William Merle and wife Cynthia; son Michael and wife Denise and their children Molly and Preston; grandson Brad; brothers David, wife Polly and Mark, wife Deb; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Faith Lutheran Church in Flower Mound, Texas. The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. His final resting place will be at Sunset Memorial Park in DuQuoin, Illinois.
