William Carrol Tittle

June 22, 1929 – May 17, 2025

William "Bill" Tittle, 95, of Lewisville, TX, beloved husband, father, Grandpa and Great Grandpa, passed peacefully to his heavenly home into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, early Saturday morning, May 17, 2025.

Bill was born in Granger, TX, on June 22, 1929, to John Reagan Tittle and Carrie Lee (Minter) Tittle. The youngest of 13 children, he quickly honed his witty sense of humor. With the doting attention of his elder eight sisters and four brothers, his youth was filled with the joys of family life on their farm in Barlett, working and fishing. His Mother and siblings affectionately called him "W.C.," while his Father playfully dubbed him "baby Jesus."  As the family made their final homestead in Holland, TX, Bill graduated from Holland High School in 1948.

Upon completing high school, Bill served his country in both the United States Navy and Air Force between 1948 to 1953.  His last duty station was at Carswell U.S. Air Force Base in Ft. Worth, TX. With his military service complete, the ongoing construction of the new Lewisville Dam provided employment opportunities for Bill to stay in North Texas. As the Lewisville Dam construction completed, Bill went to work for General Motors Company, initially in the Dallas Parts Warehouse location, then transferring to the Everman Parts Division. He retired from General Motors with over 40 years of loyal service.

Settling in Lewisville, Bill met Laverne Garth, who became the love of his life. Bill and Laverne were married on November 27, 1954. Together they built a happy home and raised a loving, close-knit family. Bill and Laverne were blessed with five children. A steadfast faith and consistent teachings provided the strong foundation Bill and Laverne modeled for their family. As a member of the First Baptist Church of Lewisville, Bill provided additional service to the church in his ministry to help maintain the building and grounds for many years. He also used this as a teaching tool for his children to learn to serve, as they tagged along, helping where they were able. He also spent time teaching Sunday School to the youths.

Bill loved his family. He loved and depended on his wife, Laverne. He adored his children and grandchildren, often calling them by funny nicknames. His sense of humor was classic "old school," which he shared often. Nothing pleased him more than to make someone chuckle, unless it might be that of sitting in a football stadium cheering on his children and grandchildren.  He loved rooting for the "home" team! Spending time with his family filled his heart. His passions included meticulous yard work, he loved gardening, raising or rescuing small animals, ALL-things John Wayne and watching old westerns on TV.

Bill is survived by his wife, Laverne, and their children:  Tina Carroll of Lewisville; Lisa Tittle of Highland Village, wife of deceased son, Tim; Sheila Heath and husband, Steve, of Copper Canyon; Scott and wife, Kim, of Oak Point; and Ted and wife, Tara, of Flower Mound. He is also survived by nine grandchildren:  Matt and wife, Meredith; Brett and wife, Lauren; Kyle and wife, MJ; Kristen; Cassie and husband, Aaron; Whitney and husband, Nick; Garrett and wife, Tara; Grant; and Adam and wife, Victoria; and 11 great grandchildren:  Drake, Rylie, Sadie, Ellyette, Graham, Bailey, Everly, Lizzie, Myles, Logan and William (his namesake), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill is preceded in death by his son, Tim, his parents, John Reagan and Carrie Tittle, and all 12 siblings.
