William (Bill) Henson, 77, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Highland Village, Texas on February 10, 2025, after a two-year hard-fought battle with cancer.
Bill was born to William and Frances Henson on May 21, 1947, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was raised in Oklahoma alongside his two brothers Jack and David and graduated from Washington High School in 1965.
He joined the Air Force in 1966 and served for 4 years. He was a Vietnam veteran, having completed a tour in Thailand/Vietnam. While stationed at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, he met and married Anne DeVoe, his wife of 56 years.
Bill graduated with honors from Oklahoma University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He relocated to Texas and had a successful career working for over 20 years as a Regional Architect for the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Bill was an avid OU fan. He loved watching OU football and softball. He coached his kids in little league, and he enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors, especially at his land in Stratford, OK. Bill was known for his quick-witted sense of humor. It was important to him to be a good provider for his loved ones. He valued and loved his family most of all, and he took great pride in the life and accomplishments of each and every member.
Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Frances Henson; his father, William E. Henson; and his brother, Jack Richardson. He is survived by his wife, Anne Henson; His sons, Steven Henson (Tammy) and Kendall Henson (Tia), and his daughter, Angie Sturzl (Mark);His grandchildren, Savannah Howard (Christian), Braxton Henson, Grace Sturzl, Brady Sturzl, Brock Sturzl, Wyatt Henson, Willa Henson; and his great-grandson, George Sturzl.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let Your perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen
