William Acklee Gilmore, 79 of Flower Mound, Texas passed away on July 22, 2023, after a 27-year battle with cancer.

Bill was born on April 10, 1944, to Hermon and MaryLou (Green) Gilmore, in Brownfield, Texas. He was raised in Seagraves, Texas with his two brothers Robert and Jerry. After Bill graduated Seagraves High School in 1962, he served in the US Navy from 1963 to 1967. During that time, he was assigned to The USS Salisbury Sound AV-13 and the USS Ranger CVA-61. Following his naval career, Bill returned to school earning his Bachelor's degree in business from the University of North Texas, and his Master's degree in business administration from Amber University.

He enjoyed a 39-year career with GTE/Verizon, where he made many life-long friends, also known as "the old geezers."

In 1949, at the age of 5, Bill met the love of his life, Janie Tate, at The Assembly of God Church, in Seagraves, Texas. They later married November 2nd, 1963, in that very same church. Bill and Janie went on to have two daughters, Debbie and Luann.

After his retirement, Bill's hobbies included photography, genealogy, and travel. His favorite times were spent with his family, both on vacations and enjoying weekly lunch/game days together every Sunday.

Bill was preceded in death, by his parents Hermon and MaryLou Gilmore, and his beloved aunts Pauline and Erma. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Janie Gilmore. His brothers Robert (Nancy) and Jerry (Linda). His daughters Debbie Pierce (Don) and Luann Gilmore, and his five grandchildren Kendall (Marshall), Madison, Brendan, McKenna, and Landry.

Visitation will be held at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home on Saturday July 29, 2023, at 10:00 am, with celebration of life service starting at 11:00 am.
