Thomas Allen Pierson, born on October 14, 1948, to Evelyn Ruth and Leroy Pierson in Sterling, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 15, 2024.

From an early age, Tom aspired to follow in his father's footsteps to become a Marine, inspired by the legacy of service in his family. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in August 1968, quickly rising through the ranks to Sergeant. He often expressed his determination not to simply "play John Wayne" while serving in Vietnam. His commitment to his fellow Marines shone through when he took on the role of Religious Lay Leader, providing essential counseling and support to those facing difficulties.

Upon his honorable discharge in August 1970, Tom returned to Illinois, where he initially worked as a department store sales manager. His entrepreneurial spirit soon led him to the salvage industry, where he founded Pierson & Associates, Inc. in 1982. This venture allowed him to travel across the country, creating lasting connections and friendships. As his eldest son, Tom Jr., began to express interest in the family business, they collaborated closely, building a legacy that continues to thrive today, albeit with a modern focus on technology.

Beyond his professional achievements, Tom was actively involved in his community, serving in the Boy Scouts and contributing to the Downtown Carrollton Toys for Tots toy drive. He also dedicated time to studying martial arts, earning numerous awards and accolades that reflected his passion and commitment. His admiration for American actor John Wayne influenced his values of courage, resilience, and integrity throughout his life.

In his later years, Tom transitioned into retirement, allowing him to enjoy precious time with his beloved family. He is survived by his loving wife, Glenda Pierson; his three children: Tom Pierson Jr. (wife Dana), Janet Berryman (husband Jason), and Mark Pierson; stepson Kevin Koch; and Kera Espinoza, a cherished family member. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren who carry on his wonderful sense of humor, hardworking nature, and caring spirit.
