Sylvia Anne Borchardt of Lewisville, Texas went to be with her Lord on May 8th, 2026, surrounded by family members she cherished.  Leaving a legacy defined by faith, unwavering devotion, humor, and a love that touched everyone that was blessed to know her.  Born on April 5th, 1937, in Dallas, Texas.  Sylvia lived with a gentle strength that carried her through every chapter of her life. Sylvia grew up with a vibrant spirit and a love for music and family.  She graduated from Malakoff High School, where she proudly played the snare drum in the school Band.  Those early years reflected the rhythm, discipline, and joy she carried throughout her life.  Her greatest joy was her family. Sylvia devoted herself whole heartly to her children, her friends and especially her grandchildren who were the light of her life. She nurtured those around her with her quiet wisdom, encouragement and warmth that made every person feel valued and loved.   She lived a Godly life, never wavered from her beliefs, lived the very life by God's word and taught her children to trust God to live their lives accordingly.

Sylvia's journey took a remarkable turn when she began working as a Secretary at Pollock Paper Company. One day, a young man named Lake Dallas Borchardt walked into his boss's office and saw her for the first time. Without hesitation, after meeting her, he told everyone, "I'm going to marry that girl." True to his word, just two months later, they were married, beginning a partnership that lasted forty-three wonderful years.  Their marriage was filled with laughter, devotion, and a deep steady love that shaped every part of their lives.

She poured her heart into her church community, especially as a Vacation Bible School teacher.  She made learning about God joyful, memorable, and full of laughter. She even led the church baseball team, where on  one unforgettable moment became part of her legend. The kids did not believe she could hit the ball until the day she stepped up to Home  plate wearing her green turban and matching green sweater, swung with all her might, and knocked the ball out of the park. She walked every base with pride while the kids cheered, and from that day forward, they called her the "Green Hornet." It was a name she wore with a smile for years.

As her children grew, Sylvia devoted her time to San Jacinto Elementary where she became a beloved figure to students, teachers, and parents alike.  It was there that she earned the nickname Mrs. Bo, a name spoken with affection by children who adored her. She had a gift for making every child feel safe, seen and valued. She formed  lifelong friendships with her best friend Marilyn McConnel as so known as "Honnell",  along with others who became like family. Altogether their adventures  were legendary-full of laughter, loyalty, and stories that still bring smiles, even though some stories  are left untold.

Later, Sylvia brought her talents to Republic National Bank in Downtown Dallas where she played a key role in preparing college students for the workplace. She guided them with patience, encouragement, and the kind of wisdom that helped young adults' step confidently into their futures. In the later years of her career, Sylvia managed a landscaping company for 15 years for Reeders' Landscaping in Flower Mound, where she continued to share her reliability, kindness, and joyful spirit with everyone she encountered.  During this time, Sylvia also graduated from the Bible Study Fellowship Program and completed all of the graduate studies, which was equivalent to a seminary program. Her faith remained the foundation of her Life. Sylvia made sure her family was in church every Sunday.  Even when her health declined and walking became difficult, she prepared herself each week, determined to be in God's house until she could not walk any longer.

Across every chapter of her Life, Sylvia touched people with her compassion, humor, and genuine care. She was the kind of person who made others feel at home simply by being herself. Her legacy lives on in the children she comforted, the students she guided, the friends she cherished, the church she loved, and the family she held close to her heart. Sylvia's life was a beautiful testament of kindness, loyalty, humor, and unwavering Faith. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever celebrated.

Sylvia is Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 wonderful years, Lake Dallas Borchardt; her sons James Lee Borchardt and John Patrick Borchardt, granddaughter Lacy Beal, grandson Michael McClung, and her parents, R. V. and Iola A. Cates.  She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Combs Calkins, Melody Watkins Faulkner, Cynthia Watkins Baker, Cindi McIlroy Stovenhour and Saprina Watkins Longacre, and by her son Jerry Borchardt. Sylvia was also blessed with many loving grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, each of whom brought her pride, joy, and laughter. Her grandchildren include Debbie Pesnell Borchardt, Teri Sue Borchardt, Johnny Borchardt Jr., Ally Borchardt, Bailey Borchardt, Amy Borchardt Marks, Susan Borchardt, Bo Borchardt, Michael Watkins, LaChrista Gray Mousser, Michelle Gray Beal, Cody Baker, Zach Baker, Ryan Hobbs,  Steven McClung, and Olivia Stovenhour Reagor.
