Susan Maria Mills was born as Susan Maria Pitcock in Kaiserslautern, Germany on April 8 1953.  Adopted at birth, her parents ) and Elizabeth were Robert (Bob (Bessie) Pitcock.

Susan grew up with Bob and Bessie in Denton, Texas- attending local schools and eventually earning her Batchelor in Home Economic from then North Texas University.

Susan loved crafts her whole life- from needlework, sewing, crochet and later quilting.  She also played both the piano and organ, often earning her own money from a young age playing for events locally. She grew up strong in her faith in the Lord, and was baptized as a child.

Susan met her life long love, Ken Mills in 1976 and they married in May of 1978.

Susan was a member of the police force for the City of Denton. She served as the first female officer in Denton, Texas.

Susan left the force in 1986 to stay home with her 4 children, Wesley, Meredith, Andrea and Jeffrey. She loved being an involved mother- taking part in PTA, field day, being home room mom, and scout mom.  However, she found her true calling in being Nana.  She first became Nana to Nik, then Andi, Kylie, April, Connor and Joben.  However, she never really stopped adding grandchildren- often serving as a grandmother to her grandchildren's spouses and friends.  She was known to all, and loved by all, as Nana.

Susan passed away on March 2 2025 with her family near.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Bessie Pitcock, and her daughter Bethany Mills. She was survived by her spouse of 47 years, Ken Mills, her 4 children- Wesley, Meredith, Andrea and Jeffrey, as well as the many grandchildren- by blood and by love.

A Celebration of Life memorial will take place March 29th at 1:00pm at Garden Ridge Church of Christ in Lewisville Texas.
