It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Lynn Marshall, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Susan passed away peacefully at her home on July 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was 66 years old. Born on February 1, 1960, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to Barry Thornley and Patricia (Godfrey) Thornley, Susan was a beacon of light and love to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Preceded in death by her parents, grandparents Syndey and Marjorie Thornley and John and Ruth Godfrey, along with beloved aunts and uncles.

In 1978, Susan graduated from R.L. Turner High School in Carrollton, Texas. She married the love of her life, Mark Marshall, on February 23, 1979, in Farmers Branch, Texas. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared 47 wonderful years of marriage. Susan's career began in 1980 at Pitney Bowes in Farmers Branch, where she devoted 16 years. She then joined Xerox/GE Financial Services in Lewisville for another 16 years, making lasting contributions and friendships. However, her most cherished role came as she dedicated herself to caring for her grandchildren, nurturing them with love and wisdom and lots of park and shopping trips. She then returned to work in the Human Resources department for Lewisville Independent School District, before her retirement in 2025.

A longtime member of the United Methodist Church, Susan's faith guided her throughout her life. She enjoyed volunteering, giving her time to the LISD back-to-school fairs, Christian Community Action and the Kids Eat free summer program. Her involvement in advocacy groups during her tenure at Xerox showcased her unwavering commitment to making a difference. Susan found immense joy in cheering on her grandsons during their sporting events, never missing an opportunity to be their biggest fan. Her presence at the pool, delighting her grandchildren with her impressive cannonballs, was a testament to her youthful spirit and love for family. Everyone who knew Susan knew about her great love for the band, The Eagles. She and Mark saw them in concert many times and even saw them on their very first date in 1977. Susan loved a good party and if there was a dance floor, she was on it. Her energetic spirit was a gift to all who knew her. Susan was also known for her warm smile and boundless generosity. She never met a stranger. Her kindness touched many lives, and her incredible gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued will be remembered by all who knew her.

Susan is survived by her devoted husband, Mark; her beloved daughters, Jennifer Sutton and husband Derick of Corinth, Texas, and Jessica Brown and husband Brandon of Lewisville, Texas; her cherished grandchildren, Andrew Sutton, Hudson Brown, and Eleanor Brown. She also leaves behind a brother, Chris Thornley of Canada, many loving aunts, uncles, brothers-in law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless dear friends. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Susan's medical care team and hospital staff at Medical City Denton, MD Anderson, and UT Southwestern for their compassionate care and support. Susan's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever be cherished by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A celebration of life honoring Susan Marshall will be held at Vista Ridge United Methodist Church in Lewisville, Texas, Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 2:00 pm. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
