Stephen Wilson Griffin passed away July 27, 2024, in Lewisville, Texas. He was born on November 4, 1941, in Dallas, Texas to Bertha and Nelson Griffin. He graduated from Lewisville High School in 1960 and went on to receive his Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of North Texas.  In 1973, he graduated from the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University. While at the University of North Texas, he met and fell in love with Margaret McWilliams.  They were married in Texarkana on February 27, 1965, and moved to Lewisville in 1971.  They have two daughters, Cynthia Ayres and Melinda Arriola, whom Steve taught to fish, manage their finances, serve others and love the Lord.

Steve had a true heart for service and stepped up to lead and volunteer wherever he was needed in the community. He was member and past president of Lewisville Rotary Club, president of Lewisville Chamber of Commerce and served as chairman of the Lewisville Planning and Zoning Commission. He served on several boards including Christian Community Action, Old Hall Cemetery and a few local banks. Steve was honored as Citizen of the Year in 1981 and was inducted into the Lewisville High School Hall of Fame in 2003.

Steve was a founding member of Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church in Flower Mound, where he worshipped with his family.  He loved his church family and trusted God in every circumstance. He knew, with God's strength, you can always "find something good in every situation".  He worked alongside his wife, Margaret, with the Kairos Prison Ministry, sharing the love of Christ with prisoners from all walks of life.

Steve lived life to the fullest and enjoyed fishing, traveling and serving others. He spent countless hours on the lake where he shared time with treasured friends and built lifelong friendships. Steve's favorite TV show was The Weather Channel (on mute). He loved Colorado in the summer and the Mill Street Diner's potato chip chicken. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, colorful one-liners, generosity, sincere interest and concern for others and his unwavering faith.

Steve is survived by his daughters and their spouses, Cynthia and Keith Ayres, and Melinda and Bret Arriola; granddaughter Abigail Pearce and her husband, Steven; granddaughter Alexandra Arriola; and great-grandson Shepard Pearce. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret McWilliams Griffin.

A service to celebrate Steve's life and faith will be held on Friday, August 2 at 1:00 p.m. at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church in Flower Mound.  Interment will follow at Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 1 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville, Texas.
