Stanley "Stan" Waldrop, 81, passed away on August 20, 2023 in Dallas, Texas.

Stan was born and raised in Weston, West Virginia to Floyd and Grace Waldrop. He graduated from Alderson–Broaddus College ('64) where he met his beloved wife, Virginia Leach ('66). Their love story spanned over 50 years, marked by shared laughter and countless milestones.

Stan had a lifelong interest in firefighting, starting as a volunteer firefighter in Weston and later serving in Washington, DC and the Pentagon, Salisbury, MD, Schwenksville, PA, and Pottstown, PA. Stan transitioned his knowledge and passion into a career in loss prevention at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, which took him to Dallas. Stan whole-heartedly embraced Texan culture and often wore boots and a cowboy hat.

Stan and Virginia spent many happy years visiting countries around the world. He particularly enjoyed traveling by river cruise exploring European and Asian cities along the routes.

Stan is survived by wife Virginia; son Chris and wife Lindsey of Washington, DC; daughter Sarah of Dallas, TX; sister Neena Mitchell of Syracuse, NY; brother Carleton and wife Rosemary of Clarkston, WA; nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who will miss his quick smile, hearty laugh, and his enjoyment of a nice glass of Chianti.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lewisville and former Friendship Class facilitator.
