With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Spaulding (Spud) Thomas Newton of Highland Village, Texas on December 7th. Spud, born on January 21, 1941 in Boulder, Colorado, was the eldest child of Joseph Merle and Helen Irene Newton, and he cherished the role of older brother to Joe, Bob, and Rachael. Spud's life was marked by unwavering determination, love of family, a deep commitment to service and his entrepreneurial spirit.

Beside him every step of the way was his devoted wife of 56 years, Jean Newton, the love of his life. Together, they created a legacy that extended through the generations, leaving an indelible mark on their family and community.

He is also survived by his sons and their wives, David and Cynthia, and Matt and Callie. Known as Papa to his grandchildren, Adelaide, Hope, Rachael, Cole, Mia, Ghirin, Nolan, and Evan were the absolute joy of his days. He was their biggest fan and endlessly proud of their every accomplishment.

A memorial service to celebrate Spud's remarkable life will be held on December 16th at 10 am at St. Nicholas Church in Flower Mound. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Special Abilities of North Texas and PediPlace, two organizations very close to his heart.

Spud lived a life that touched the hearts of many. May his indomitable spirit rest in peace, and may his legacy endure in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
