Scott Burton Harter, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 31, 2026.

Born in Worcester, MA, on June 9, 1962, to Frances and Frederick Harter, Scott grew up with a deep connection to his New England roots. He graduated from Saint Peter-Marian High School and attended Mount Wachusett Community College before embarking on a successful, decades-long business career in Sales and then as a VP in the Building Industry. His work took him around the Country and Worldwide.

Beyond his professional achievements, Scott's true passion was sports. A die-hard fan of all New England teams, he faithfully cheered on the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, and Celtics. Over the years, he was fortunate enough to attend multiple Super Bowls and took great pride in building a cherished collection of sports memorabilia.

Scott also had a passion for travel and along with his wife and family he traveled all over the world. A couple of his favorite trip include Cuba and China, but anywhere Scott traveled to was always an adventure.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Frederick Harter.

He leaves behind a large, loving family who will miss him deeply. He is survived by his wife of over 25 years, Jeannine; his siblings, Chuck Harter (wife Sandy) of Tennessee, Paul Harter of Massachusetts, and Lee of Massachusetts; his children, Shannon Hanson (husband Chris) of Rutland, MA, and Daniel Harter (wife Jennifer) of Jerrell, TX; his stepchildren, Amanda Arteaga (husband Lucas) of San Marcos, TX, Natalie Wade of Colorado, and Shawn Rayburn of Corinth, TX; and his beloved grandchildren: Chris, Ariel, and Spencer Arteaga; Ephrem, Eloise, and Elias Harter; and Jordyn, Caleb, and Sawyer Hanson.
