Scott Alan Collins, 62, of Dallas, Texas, departed this earth on July 3, 2023 after suffering a heart attack while fishing with friends on Grand Lake. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend to many, and was known for his charismatic, adventurous and thrill-seeking spirit. Scott was enthusiastic and generous in all aspects of his life.

Scott was born on January 5, 1961, in Oklahoma City to Bob and Patricia Collins. He was a 1979 alumnus of Putnam City High School where he was a proud member of the 1977 state champion football team. He remained close with several members of the winning team throughout his life and loved to recount stories of their football accolades.

Scott attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a B.S. in Business in 1983. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and remained an active member throughout his life. He served as the president of the Phi Delt House Corporation, assisted with fundraisers for house renovations, and helped tremendously when the chapter was reinstated to OSU's campus.  He was able to work his way through college when he found his passion for taxidermy, a hobby he continued throughout his life.  After college, he carried on a generational Collins' tradition of a fulfilling career in the roofing and construction industry.

Scott met the love of his life, Betty McMurtry, during freshmen year of college on the corner between the Chi Omega and Phi Delt houses.  They were married on April 28, 1984 and were blessed with 2 children, Kelsy and Taylor, of whom he was extremely proud.  Scott adored his family and spent his life loving, supporting, and encouraging them in all their endeavors.

Scott lived his life to the fullest and often joked that he was on his second or third bucket list. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. He was a passionate OSU and Dallas sports fan. In recent years, he enjoyed relaxing and working at his ranch near Hamilton, Texas. The "CR 222 Ranch" became his passion project and provided cherished memories for family and friends that spent time with him there. He loved to plan trips and travel the world with his family and friends.  Scott did not allow his diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS) to hold him back from continuing to fulfill his passions, including traveling to South Africa and beyond to hunt and fish.

Scott found solace and strength in his faith in Jesus as his personal savior which guided him throughout his life. He delighted in sharing his faith with others when given the opportunity. He spent countless hours volunteering for Christ including mission trips building homes in Mexico, keeping dental equipment operating in the Amazon, cooking meals for students at Beach Camp in Alabama, and hosting various youth groups at the ranch.

Scott is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Betty Collins; his two children, Kelsy Gonzalez and husband Jairo of Houston, TX and Taylor Collins and wife Emily of Oklahoma City, OK; his mother, Patricia "Mema" Collins of Norman, OK; brother, Steven Collins and wife Kristin of Norman, OK; and his beloved black Labrador, Cowboy.  He is preceded in death by his father, Bob Collins (2013).

A celebration of life will be held at Prestonwood Baptist Church Plano Campus Faith Chapel, 6801 W. Park Blvd, Plano, TX 75093 on Tuesday, July 11th at 10:00 am.  A Facebook live link will be available prior to the service for those who cannot attend in person.
