Ronny Franklin Miller

Ronny Franklin Miller, 86, passed away on September 16, 2026, in Denton, Texas. Known for his hard work, generous spirit, and deep love for his family and community, Ronny leaves behind a legacy of dedication, public service, and lasting memories.

Born on August 12, 1940, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Fred Franklin Miller and Helen Peach (McCurley), Ronny was a lifelong provider, entrepreneur, and public servant. He resided most of his life in Lewisville, Texas, before residing in Denton in his later years.

In the early 1970s, he served his community as Fire Chief for Lake Cities and as a Reserve Deputy for the Denton County Sheriff's Office. Throughout his career, he was a well-known and respected fixture in the area as the owner and operator of Lake Dallas Automotive, Ronny Miller Wrecker Service, and Little Elm Self Storage.

His strong work ethic also shone during his time as a tool dealer for Snap-on Tools—where he earned top salesman honors—as well as MATCO Tools and Cornwell Tools. During the 1970s and 1980s, his fellow wrecker drivers formed a second family to him, and Ronny was deeply grateful to recently reunite with several of them just days before his passing.

Though often quiet, Ronny possessed a big heart and never hesitated to extend a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved deer hunting and spending time outdoors. In recent years, he also found great joy in going out for karaoke, shooting a game of pool, and sharing laughs with his dear karaoke friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Peach; his stepfather, Fentress "Fent" Peach; his father, Fred Franklin Miller; his stepmother, Trula Faye Miller; his step-sister, Johnnie Faye Dooley; and his beloved grandson, Justin Brent Miller.

Ronny is survived by Merlene Fortenberry (formerly Miller), his ex-wife of 60 years; his three children, Cheryl Hobbs (and husband Doug Hobbs), Terri Miller, and Randy Miller; four grandchildren, Amanda Harkins (and husband Jerry Harkins), Jennilee Autry (and husband Leighton Autry), Callie Purser (and husband Jeremy Purser), and Cassie Hobbs; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his step-brother, James Holland; and his grand-dog, Bodhi.

Ronny will be deeply missed, forever loved, and warmly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
