Ronald Duane "Ron" Stanberry passed away peacefully of natural causes on September 10, 2026. He was 79 years old.

Ron was born on July 12, 1947, in Richmond, California. He lived his life devoted to his faith, family, and country—values that shaped the way he served others and cared for the people he loved. He was also a proud member of the Choctaw Indian Tribe.

A proud United States Army veteran, Ron volunteered to serve his country honorably during the Vietnam era. His commitment to service continued throughout his life through his church. He was a devoted member and deacon of Lone Star Cowboy Church in Whitesboro, Texas, where his faith and church family held a special place in his heart.

Ron spent many years working for Coserv Electric in Denton, TX, before retiring. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, dedication, dependability, and the lasting relationships he formed throughout his career.

Ron was first married to Carolyn Joyce Stanberry, with whom he had his only child, Lisa Joyce Stanberry Prieto. Carolyn preceded him in death. Ron later married Carol Minassian Stanberry and became part of her family.

Of all the titles Ron held during his life, one of the most treasured was Grandpa. He was the proud grandfather of Macen Ronald, Ava Grace, and Brady Cale. His favorite times were spent being involved in their lives, watching them grow, and celebrating their school activities and accomplishments. Through his marriage to Carol, Ron was also blessed with a larger family whom he loved and cherished, including Bryan Minassian and his wife, Kristin; Amy Hilliard and her husband, Shane; and grandchildren Luke, Shiloh, Brady, Callie, Sophia, Bodey, and Presley.

Ron is survived by his wife, Carol; his daughter, Lisa Joyce Stanberry Prieto; his son-in-law Ruben Prieto, brother Michael Stanberry his grandchildren, Macen Ronald, Ava Grace, and Brady Cale; the Minassian children and grandchildren and other relatives, friends, fellow veterans, and members of his Lone Star Cowboy Church family.

Ron's life was marked by faith, family, and country. He served his country with honor, supported his family with love, and lived his faith through service to his church and community. His family will remember him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, deacon, member of the Choctaw Indian Tribe, and man of faith.

His memory will live on through his daughter and grandchildren, through the family he leaves behind, and through the many people whose lives he touched over the course of a life well lived.

A memorial service, viewing, and wake will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, at Lone Star Cowboy Church, 2050 N. FM 678, Whitesboro, Texas 76273. Family, friends, church members, and all who knew and loved Ron are warmly invited to attend.

A burial service with military honors will be held at 09:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 17th, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211. All who wish to honor Ron and pay their respects are welcome to attend.
