Ronald Wayne Robertson, 83, passed away July 14, 2024 in Lewisville, TX. He was born in Wright City, Oklahoma in 1940 to Harvey Oliver Robertson and Elsie Bertha Garner Robertson. When Ron was a boy, his family moved from Oklahoma to Klamath Falls, Oregon, where he grew up. He attended Oregon State University, graduating with a degree in Forestry Management. While working in forestry in Washington, he joined the Army, Infantry Division, and served in Korea, earning the Parachutist Badge and achieving the rank of First Lieutenant. He then entered the University of Texas at Austin, where he met Judith "Judi" McFerran and earned both a B.S. and a M.S. in Petroleum Engineering with a focus on production, joining Gulf Oil Company upon graduation. He and Judi married in 1970, and their daughter Mary Elisabeth "Beth" was born in 1974.

In his career as a petroleum engineer and manager, Ron worked for: Gulf; Cawley, Gillespie and Associates; and Chevron. Ron and Judi lived a life of travel that lasted 51+ years in which they lived in 14 homes including London and several stints in Lagos, Nigeria. Ron retired from Chevron in upper management during their final time in New Orleans, then he and Judi went on to live in St. Francisville, Louisiana, then Cullowhee, North Carolina, and finally Hendersonville, North Carolina.

In each place they lived, Ron and Judi were very active in the community and in the church they attended. A significant example of that was the years they lived in Algiers Point, New Orleans. During that time, they worked with their neighbors to co-found the Algiers Historical Society and Friends of the Algiers Courthouse, and they were members of the Algiers Point Association. Ron and Judi served in a number of roles at Algiers United Methodist Church, and they were dedicated Christmas in October volunteers. Ron served in the local Kiwanis chapter. During their final years together in Hendersonville, they were active members of Etowah United Methodist Church. Ron sang in the choir at both Algiers and Etowah UMC. He also enjoyed playing golf, following the market, and spending time with friends and family. In the last year, he had moved to Texas to be close to his daughter.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers James Otis Robertson and George Milford Robertson, sisters Valeda Bonner and Mattie Robertson, and his beloved wife Judi. He is survived by his daughter Beth Robertson-Walter and son-in-law Evan Walter of Lewisville, TX; extended family in Arkansas, Oklahoma, California, North Carolina, and Texas; and by friends around the world.

Ron was a wonderful son and brother, uncle, husband, father, friend and neighbor who will be greatly missed.
