Ronald Reid McKinley

May 20, 1955 - December 26, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce Ronnie McKinley passed away peacefully after finishing his round of golf at the Club he loved most, Oakmont. It was fitting that his final moments were spent doing one of the things that brought him the greatest joy. Ronnie was the beloved husband of Linda; a devoted father to Patricia and Erin; and a cherished father-in-law to Kelsey Walter, whom he loved like a son. He was an exceptionally proud and loving grandfather to Taryn, Thomas, and Tegan, who brought him endless happiness.

Ronnie grew up in Ridgewood, New York, with his devoted parents, Garrett and Betty McKinley, alongside his siblings Timothy and Maureen, later welcoming his brother Vinnie Dunne. His childhood was filled with strong family bonds that carried throughout his life. Summers spent in Roxbury, New York—his happy place—were some of his most treasured memories, surrounded by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

It was also in Roxbury that Ronnie met Linda. After years of friendship, he proposed to her on St. Patrick's Day in a yellow taxi cab, a story he loved to share. They were married on December 10, 1978, at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Ridgewood, New York. In January 1979, they moved to Texas, where they built a life together, raised their family, and formed new lasting friendships.

Roxbury remained close to his heart and was where he and Linda spent their summers surrounded by family and friends. The beach is where many of Ronnie's happiest moments and our fondest memories together were made.

Ronnie took great pride in his accomplishments. He was the first member of his family to graduate college, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He went on to enjoy a remarkable 44-year career in the adhesive industry, beginning at United Resin, where he started working part-time at just sixteen years old, and culminating as Vice President of Hygiene at Henkel Adhesives. Ronnie held numerous patents and was widely respected for his deep technical knowledge and expertise. He generously shared that knowledge, mentoring many colleagues over the years and leaving a lasting impact on those who worked alongside him.

Outside of work, Ronnie embraced life fully. He loved golfing, traveling, and live music, especially the Grateful Dead, always eager for the next adventure or concert. He was a life long member of the Mayor's Committee of Roxbury, the Bozo Softball Club, and the Roxbury Catholic Club. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family and friends—whether on the golf course, at a gathering, or simply enjoying music, good  conversation and laughter over a good glass of wine. He held his family close, deeply devoted to his wife and lovingly proud of his daughters, son-in-law, and grandchildren. Ronnie's warmth, humor, and presence made every moment richer for those around him, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
