Robert Francis "Bob" Wands, 87, passed away on March 11, 2026, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Highland Village, Texas.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Robert Patrick Wands and Jean (Kennedy) Wands, Bob was the eldest of five children and grew up in an Irish Catholic home in Manhasset, NY. He is survived by his siblings David Wands, Dianne Zurfluh, Michael Wands, and Jeannie Gaston.

In 1963, Bob married the love of his life, Alice Mary Diggins Wands. Their devotion to one another spanned 61 years, until Alice's passing March 7, 2024. Together they raised two children. Robert Wands Jr. who is married to Becky Wands and Kathleen King who is married to Alex King III. Bob was a loving grandfather and great grandfather of Sean Shugart, Alex King IV, Corey Wands, Kati Wands, Madison Shugart, Brian Shugart, Abigail Shugart and Alex King V. Dad recently accepted and adopted Maria Corona to be his granddaughter with great delight.

Bob's career brought the family to Dallas in 1974 when he accepted a management position in software sales. Texas became home for more than five decades. He traveled the world and cherished time with his family - especially teaching his grandchildren and great grandchildren how to golf - and was known for being fully present, deeply engaged, and endlessly supportive. He led by example, always funny, loving, caring, and positive.

Bob was a proud Marine and a great leader in the Marine Corps League in Denton, Texas. He was a true patriot. Bob dedicated himself to service to others long after his military service. He helped fellow veterans transition into civilian life, find sobriety and spirituality. Bob also mentored countless others seeking spirituality, recovery, and a positive direction in their lives. His impact and love for others were profound and lasting. In fact, many have stated that Bob had saved their lives. Bob would tell you that service to others created joy, happiness and an abundance of love in his life.

Bob embraced life with enthusiasm and humor. He was an accomplished golfer, who also loved fishing and horseback riding. For his 80th birthday, he celebrated in true "Bob" fashion by skydiving alongside his son in law, grandchildren, and Marine Corps buddies.

He will be dearly remembered for the man he was and the countless lives he touched.
