Rickey Eugene Phipps
May 21, 1955 – July 8, 2025

Rickey Eugene Phipps, 70, of Irving, Texas, passed away on July 8, 2025. Born on May 21, 1955, in Nashville, Tennessee, Rickey lived a full life defined by hard work, deep love for his family, and a generous spirit that touched everyone he met.

Rickey was a talented contractor who took pride in his work. Whether renovating homes or upgrading apartments, he approached every job with dedication and heart. He believed in helping people and was always the first to lend a hand—often quite literally giving you the shirt off his back.

Outside of work, Rickey enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: family barbecues, good music, and long rides on his Harley Davidson. Nothing meant more to him than time spent with those he loved. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend—known for his selflessness, loyalty, and quick wit.

Rickey was married for over 44 years to his beloved wife, Nerissa Lynn Phipps (née Schaffer), who preceded him in death. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised a strong, loving family.

He is also preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Phipps (née Stack); stepfather, Charles Phipps; grandfather and grandmother, Robert and Maddie Stack; brother, George Vanderford; and his twin sister, Mickey Phipps.

Rickey is survived by his six children: Mildred Yvonne Phipps, Leeann Jeanette Guerrero (née Phipps), Darlene Nicole Phipps, Rickey Lee Phipps, James Michael Spaninato, and Julian Alan Castro. He also leaves behind sixteen grandchildren—Dalton Scarbrough, Kimber Hersey (née Scarbrough), Tori Tackett, Tyler Collard, Nikki Bailey (née Collard), Ethan Guerrero, Trent Kenner, Lexi Kenner, Marcus Hughen, Jase Hughen, Kaylee Phipps, Taylor Phipps, Madison Phipps, Katelynn Spaninato, Aleah Spaninato, and Devon Spaninato—and two great-grandchildren: Dominic Scarbrough and Baker Bailey.

Rickey's life will be honored on Sunday, July 13th, 2025, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, located at 740 Edmonds Ln, Lewisville, TX 75067. Visitation and service will begin at 1:00 PM.

Rickey will be remembered for his generosity, strength, and the deep love he gave to his family. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, laughter, and loyalty—and a family that will miss him deeply.
