Normand Richard Biron of Lewisville, TX passed away at the age of 81 on Thursday, November 23, 2023.

Norm was born in Lewiston, Maine as the oldest of 7 children of Lionel and Jeanne d 'Arc Biron.  He is preceded in death by his parents, youngest brother Ronnie, and oldest son John.  He is survived by his wife Helen; two sons - Bruce and Glen; three grandchildren - Connor, Haley, and Brooke; and five brothers and sisters - Diane, Larry, Claire, Claudette, and Rachel.

After graduating from Lewiston high school, Norm joined the Navy and was initially stationed in Virginia, where he spent many free weekends commuting back to Maine.  He met Helen during this time, and they were married on July 4, 1963.  Soon after he was assigned to a ship and deployed to the Mediterranean Sea.  He served a total of four years as an electronic radar technician.  After his retirement from the military in 1964, he and Helen settled in Billerica, Massachusetts for two years.  As a part of a special government contract with Raytheon, they were relocated to Kwajalein Island (Republic of the Marshall Islands) for the next two years.  Upon returning to the states, the family settled in Lewisville, TX, where Norm began an extensive career with Teledyne Geotech.

Later in life, Norm gained a passion for flying and earned his private pilot license to accompany Helen who had obtained her own license years before.  Soon after, he paired this passion with his technical skills to build his own GlaStar (an amateur-built aircraft from Glasair).  Countless hours were spent researching, preparing, constructing, and ultimately enjoying his plane on various adventures.  Besides trips with Helen, you could find him most years in late July at the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI with friends or family.  His interest in private aviation also led to involvement with the EAA Young Eagles program where he helped promote scholarship opportunities for future pilots.

Throughout his life he had many hobbies, such as scuba diving, sailing, model ship building, puzzle-making, Texas Hold 'Em, and all of the highs and lows of Dallas Cowboys football.  He was also active in the community in various ways, including serving on the board of equalization, as a little league coach, and with the planning and construction of St. Philip's Catholic Church.  After retirement, he volunteered time with the local American Red Cross during disaster relief efforts.  He also enjoyed long walks with his favorite canine partners - Charlie most recently and Sarah before that.

As a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many he will be forever missed.

The visitation will be Friday, December 1, 2023 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville, TX.  Services will be held at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 10:00 AM.  Norm will be laid to rest at Old Hall Cemetery located at 1200 McGee Ln in Lewisville, TX following the service.
