Nolan David Hammer, 84, passed away peacefully in the hospital on Tuesday, August 27th, 2024, in Flower Mound TX, surrounded by his loving family. Nolan was born July 11, 1940, to the late George and Stella (Gasaway) Hammer in Brokenbow, Oklahoma. When he was two, his family moved to Muenster, TX, where he was raised and graduated from Muenster High School in 1958.

Nolan is survived by his wife, Sandra (Hoke) Hammer of Lewisville, TX; daughter, Jamie (Hammer) Bacon & husband, Brian of Aubrey, TX; son, Brent & wife, Katy (Adams) Hammer of Decatur, TX; four grandchildren, Halie (Bacon) Kaehn and husband, Christian of Flower Mound, TX; Bryce Bacon of Aubrey, TX, Tyler and Morgan Hammer of Decatur, TX; two great grandchildren Case and Violet Kaehn; two brothers, Robert (Pete) Hammer of Lewisville, TX, Thomas (Butch) Hammer of Spring, TX; one sister, Linda (Hammer) Bryant of Hickory Creek, TX, and many other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Nolan enlisted and served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961. He was in Basic Training in Ft. Chaffee, Arkansas before transferring to Ft. Gordon, Georgia, where he did his Military Police Training. He was eventually stationed as Military Police in White Sands, New Mexico, and served there for two and a half years. In 1961, Nolan moved to Vernon, TX and worked for Phillips Petroleum along with his dad and brothers in the oil fields.

Nolan met Sandra Lynn Hoke in 1963, and they married on October 23, 1964, in Vernon, TX. Nolan and Sandra moved to Lewisville in 1966, to start his new career as a Mechanical Technician with Texas Instruments (which later became Raytheon). While working, Nolan earned his Associates degree at Cooke County College. Nolan worked for Texas Instruments/Raytheon for 40 years and retired in 2006.

Nolan had a love and devotion for his family and friends. He loved tinkering with cars, fishing, fixing anything that was broken for anyone, listening to music and spending time with friends and family. Nolan and Sandy were so happy and looking forward to celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this October.

Nolan was preceded in death by his parents George and Stella (Gasaway) Hammer; brothers, George Hammer, Jr., James Hammer; sisters, Bonnie (Hammer) Robison and Nancy (Hammer) Berry.

A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 12 pm, at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home, at 740 Edmonds Lane, Lewisville, TX followed by a memorial service at 1:00PM. Interment service will be held Monday, September 9th, at 3 pm, at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
