Nandita Dey Phillips, fondly known as 'Nitu' to loved ones, passed away peacefully on February 4th, 2025, surrounded by family after bravely fighting through illness.

Born on April 20th, 1952 in Azamgarh, India to Indira Biswas Dey and Shanti Nath Dey, she spent the majority of her happy childhood at her family home in New Delhi. She attended Lady Sri Ram College, where she made life-long friends, enjoyed her studies, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She then joined All India Radio as an announcer in the Western Music Section. Thereafter she started a career in the travel industry, working for Japan Airlines for 12 years, before moving to Thai Airlines.

She embarked on a new phase of her life in Texas in the 80s, where she continued her work in the travel industry, first for American Airlines and other corporations after. As someone who took immense pride in working hard, she continued to serve as a Travel Advisor for as long as she was able, up until a few months before her passing.

She enjoyed the simple pleasures of spending time with friends and family, catching some sunshine in parks on weekends, and watching her favorite food and home television shows with her mother over dinner. An avid reader, she was a regular at her local libraries and could often be found absorbed in a book. She also loved to experience the vibrance of the world through travel and visited many destinations with friends and family.

Nandita is survived by her loving mother, Indira, who lived with her in Lewisville. She was a beloved sister to her brother, Sanjay, and his wife Sunita. A cherished 'Pishi', her niece Sonali and nephew Siddharth will fondly remember her presence in their lives. She will be missed by many more family members close to her heart - uncles, aunts, and cousins in India and Australia and Canada - as well as dear friends from across the country and the world who remember her for her warmth and friendliness.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. Central Time on Saturday, February 8th, 2025, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home 740 S. Edmonds Ln. Lewisville, Texas 75067. The service may also be attended via Zoom.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the medical team at Medical City Lewisville as well as the doctors who took such wonderful care of her over the years.
