Nancy Smith, "Nana", 87, a lifelong resident of the Lewisville/Flower Mound area, passed away on November 3, 2024, in Lewisville, TX.  Nancy was born in Lewisville, Texas to Juanita and John Whatley on May 22, 1937.  She went through Lewisville schools, graduated from Lewisville High School in 1955, and went on to attend The University of North Texas, then North Texas State College.  She worked as an insurance agent/office manager with her husband, Paul S. Smith for many years. She married Paul Smith on May 14, 1960, in Lewisville, Texas.

Nancy was involved in The First United Methodist Church, Red Hats Society, Darcus Circle, and she played recreational volleyball and was a regular in a bowling league at Lewisville AMF. She went on various Mission trips with her church to serve others. She also volunteered at her granddaughter's elementary school.

She enjoyed camping, hiking, riding motorcycles, flying, and attending airshows with her husband, Paul. When Cheryl and Kyle were growing up, Nancy and Paul often went camping and riding motorcycles on the back roads of New Mexico and Colorado, many times with her brother Johnny's family. She also enjoyed skiing, traveling, attending NASCAR races, and just spending time with family and friends.  Nancy was a selfless person, who always put others needs ahead of hers.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband Paul S. Smith on May 1, 2001, her older brother John Whatley, and her parents Juanita and John Whatley.

Nancy is survived by her two children: Cheryl Garza of Lewisville, TX, and Kyle Smith and his wife, Allison of Flower Mound, TX. Her younger brother, Don Whately and his wife Lannie of Houston, Texas., Grandchildren: Alicia Carroll and her husband Shane, Christina Meeker and her husband Aaron. John Garza and his wife Cristen, Lauren Smith, Justin Smith, Abby Smith, Great Grandchildren: Mason, Kayli, Brady, Rylan, and Dylan.

A visitation will take place Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 7p.m.  at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home, 740 S. Edmonds Ln. Lewisville, TX 75067.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2024, 11:00 AM at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home with Pastor Rich Mussler of Attiva Mission Church, officiating.   Burial will follow at McCurley Cemetary. Arrangements are by Mulkey Mason Funeral Home.
