Monette Vinson, age 78 of Hebron, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Plano.

She was born August 10, 1947 in Dallas, Texas to Luther and Lillian Sewell.  She graduated in 1965 from Lewisville High School, where she was a majorette on the drill team and part of the National Honor Society.  She loved homemaking class.

In 1965, Monette met the love of her life John Vinson.  They were married on June 2, 1967.  John and Monette were married for almost 45 years.

Monette has been a member of FBC Hebron for over 70 years.

Throughout this time, she has served as the church clerk, taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, was on the Hospitality Committee. Actually, I'm pretty sure Monette served on every committee the church had.  She was also part of the choir.

Monette's one and only job was for State Farm Insurance.  She started in August of 1965, after she turned 18.  She had various jobs for State Farm Insurance but the one she had the longest was in the Executive Department.  She retired in May of 2013 after 47 years with State Farm Insurance.  She made many friends along the way, including her best friend, Eugenia Evans.

Monette is survived by her daughters, Kelly Vinson of Hebron and Kimberly Woodruff and husband, Joseph of Victoria, Texas; sister Karen Gant of Garland and Granddog Murphy. She is preceded in death by her husband John Vinson, parents Luther and Lillian Sewell, brother Larry Sewell,

brother-in-law Jerry Gant, sister-in-law Beverly Bragg, nephew Robby Bragg and niece Samantha Pinkston.  She is also survived by sister-in-law Sharlyne Crisp and husband Bill of Round Rock, Texas, brother-in-law Steve Bragg of Mt. Pleasant, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Monette loved to cook, do embroidery work, grow vegetables, make salsa and jellies.  She attended the Women's group at Linda Andersson's home, which she loved going to.  She loved visiting with the other ladies.  Monette also attended a Breast Cancer Support Group at First Baptist Carrollton at The Fields, where she made a lot of new friends.  She loved getting to know these ladies.  Monette also loved going to Big Springs Baptist Church for their ladies' events and Christmas programs. Every summer Monette would travel to Tennessee to the Annual Family Reunion, to visit family.  She loved visiting with all of her cousins.  If you knew our Mother, then you were prayed for and were truly "Blessed".

Although not blood related, she loved special friends, Jim and Cheryln Nattier whose precious children Matthew and Lillie, who are now grown adults, called Monette their "Granny".  Also, lifelong friends Eddie and Susan Turner, who she knew for over 45 years.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2026, at First Baptist Church Hebron. Interment will follow at Furneaux Cemetery in Carrollton.  The family will receive friends and family from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville.  We are asking if you would like to please wear something purple in honor of her.
