A Life of Love, Strength, and Grace: Celebrating Mollie Ann Gibson

November 29, 1936 – August 5, 2026

Mollie Ann Gibson passed away on August 5, 2026, following a courageous six-year battle with heart disease. Throughout her journey, she faced each challenge with grace and determination, cherishing every moment with her beloved family.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend whose warmth touched everyone who knew her. Her strong will and fierce love for her family were evident in everything she did. She held her family close, and her legacy of love will carry on through each of them.

A Life of Strength and Devotion

Mollie grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana, a WWII war child who experienced some of the hardest times possible. Through it all, she shared a close and very special relationship with her mother, Marguerite.   When her mother remarried and had three children — Becky, Nicky, and Timmy — Mollie spent most of her pre-teen and teen years caring for her much younger siblings. She was instrumental in their lives, not only as a big sister but as a mother figure. The bond between her and each of them was strong and never-ending. When Marguerite passed away in the late 1960s, Mollie was the mother figure, ensuring her siblings were loved and cared for just as their mother would have wanted.

She met and would eventually marry Robert Wayne Shew also of Terre Haute, Indiana.  They were blessed with six children of their own. Raising a family from the late fifties through the early eighties was a never-ending job, and she took it to heart no matter how hard it was at the time and ensured the children grew up and flourished in a home filled with love.

Mollie moved to Texas in 1980, where she married Wayne Gibson and remained in Lewisville, TX for the remainder of her life.

A Loving Soul

Mollie was a loving soul with a strong will to live life to its fullest — for herself and for her family. She loved her church, and when she could no longer attend in person, she watched sermons faithfully online, never missing an opportunity to be in the presence of God's word. She lived out the old hymn, "He walks with me and He talks with me" — when no one was around, there was Jesus.

Mollie was blessed with grandchildren and great-grandchildren across multiple states, along with nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She loved them all so much and worked hard to remember all their special days — birthdays, anniversaries, and every occasion that mattered to the people she loved.
