Mitchell Ross Johnson

October 16, 1965 – September 5, 2026

Mitchell Ross Johnson, age 60, went home to be with the Lord on September 5, 2026, in Little Elm, Texas. Mitch was born on October 16, 1965, in Mesquite, Texas, to James "Charlie" Johnson and Virginia Sue Johnson (Tennison).

Mitch was a fourth-generation master stonemason and carried on a proud family tradition of craftsmanship. He learned the masonry trade from his father, Charlie Johnson, and became exceptionally skilled. His knowledge, experience, and ability were evident in the work he created throughout his life. Masonry was more than a profession for Mitch—it was a family legacy passed from one generation to the next, and he was proud to carry it on.

Away from work, Mitch enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved playing music, fishing, spending time outdoors, and being with family and friends. He will be remembered for his smile, his good nature, and his willingness to lend a helping hand whenever someone needed it. Mitch had a way of making people feel welcome, and those who knew him will remember both the skilled craftsman he was and the man behind the craft.

Mitch is survived by his wife of 10 years, Maria del Rocio Johnson; his son, Mitchell Garrett Johnson and wife, Megan; his brothers, James Mark Johnson, Charlie Ray Johnson, and Jessie Carl Johnson; and his sister, Tammy Rena Johnson Hodnett; and his mother, Virginia Sue O'Rear Johnson Tennison.  He is also survived by his uncle, John O'Rear; his aunt, Bonnie Sanders; his nieces and nephews; several stepchildren and step-grandchildren; numerous cousins; and many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Mitch leaves behind a legacy seen not only in the stonework he created with his hands, but also in the lives of the people he loved and helped along the way. His craftsmanship, kindness, love of family, and the memories he shared with those around him will continue to live on.

A Celebration of Life for Mitch will be held at 1:00 p.m. on September 19, 2026, at Lewisville Bible Church, 609 S. Charles Street, Lewisville, Texas 75057. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and celebrate Mitch's life and memory.
