Matthew Albert Jaird was born on October 24, 1972, in Ludlow, Vermont. He passed away on March 24, 2026. He was a good and faithful servant whose life reflected his deep love for others and unwavering faith.

Matt was a devoted husband and an amazing father. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Jaird; his daughter, Gabriela "Gabi; and his son, David "Zeke". He is also survived by his sisters-in-law: Michelle Rivas and her husband, Jason; Linda Villa and her husband, Adam, and sister-in-law, Lesa Jaird. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Joseph Brito, Sisto Herrera III, Matthew Herrera, Nathan Brito, Julia Rivas, Justin Rivas, Aubrey Villa, Ava Villa, and Adam Villa Jr., along with many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Matt was loved by so many including students, staff and families at Peters Colony Elementary School (PCES), as well as dear friends who became part of our extended family. He was also loved by his Ethridge Elementary school family. He was a special education teacher who had the belief that his students could and would thrive in the school setting, A clear example is when two of his students with Autism performed at the school talent show, His greatest joy came from serving others, including students in the Bridgeway Church ministry, leading small group Bible study with brothers & sisters in Christ, and supporting the countless students he impacted at Peters Colony Elementary and Ethridge Elementary School. He was a dedicated educator and a fierce advocate for students with specialized needs. He faithfully served his campus through "morning-maker" duty at the front of the school and by leading the chess club, always putting students and families first.

He found happiness in life's simple and meaningful moments such as spending time with his family, grilling for neighborhood kids, gathering with friends around a firepit, and leading Bible Saturday morning study with his son Zeke and Zeke's best friend, Hayne Karina.

To know Matt was to see Christ through his daily actions. He was known for his quick wit, comedic talent, kindness, and genuine heart. As a father, he poured himself into the small, meaningful moments including packing lunches, being the first face Gabi and Zeke saw each morning and guiding his family in faith through evening Bible study. As a husband, he prepared coffee for Cynthia every morning and prepared family meals. He strived to live the life of a simple kind of man who put God first.

He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Jaird, his mother, Alice Crown and her husband Ken; his mother-in-law, Pascuila Resendez and father-in-law, Albert Resendez. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Mikey Jaird and his brother-in-law, Jose Brito.

His family and friends all share the same sentiment: Matt was a good and faithful servant. He will be forever missed and forever remembered. Matt is now home with his Heavenly Father.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 4, 2026, 10:00 am, at Bridgeway Church in Copper Canyon, Texas. There will be a Visitation one hour prior to the service.
