Mary Nell (Smith) McKay, age 83, went to her heavenly home on April 15, 2025, in Lewisville, Texas.  She was born October 14, 1941, and grew up in Lewisville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and graduated from Lewisville High School in 1959.  After graduation, she began her career at State Farm Insurance Regional Office in Dallas. She retired from the State Farm Claims Office in Corinth in 1996.

Mary Nell married Merle M. McKay on April 7, 1972, in Lewisville, Texas. Commitment, devotion, and lots of love kept their marriage strong through 53 years of marriage.

Mary Nell came on board (literally) with the Lewisville Girls' Softball Association in the late 1970's.  She not only served as a board member, she was also an official scorekeeper for the association and helped out with whatever was needed. She served as team mother and cheerleader for her daughter's teams.

Her daughter, Amy Lynne Crawford, was her pride and joy.  One of the greatest gifts Mary Nell shared by example was a strong and loyal work ethic. Amy carried this high standard throughout her own career.

Mary Nell is survived by her husband, Merle M. McKay of Lewisville, her daughter, Amy Crawford of Gainesville, her sister, Linda Ramsey of Flower Mound, and her brother, Mike Smith of Yantis, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elton (Smitty) Smith and Frances (Heath) and her sister, Kathy Davidson.
Her service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 21st, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. located at the Mulkey Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville, officiated by Rev. Chasz Parker.

A private interment will follow the service.
