In the early morning hours of July 20, 2023, Mary Martha "Mimi" Marcotte, left this earthly stage and ascended into eternal stardom. Born September 6, 1944, Mimi was the second child and one of five daughters born to George and Martha Knowles of Port Washington, NY.

Mimi's life was nothing short of beautiful—she loved the spotlight, great acoustics, the occasional well made Manhattan or margarita, and her husband of 45 years, Kenneth, who preceded her in death.

For much of her 78 years, Mimi spent countless hours nurturing the minds and hearts of thousands of children she taught as an educator—a career that spanned more than 35 years and all grades between kindergarten through middle school. During her tenure, she made many deep and meaningful relationships with colleagues-turned-friends who were more like family to her.

Mimi and Ken called Phoenix, AZ home for more than 40 years and it was there they raised three children—Allyson, Anthony "Tony", and Kathryn. With the birth of her grandsons Christopher and Austin, Mimi (or "Nana" as she was) and Ken moved to Corinth, TX for that next, sweet chapter of her life. With the addition of four more grandchildren—Maelynn, Cora, Jude, and Langdon—Mimi was a most beloved Nana, dividing her time between Arizona, Texas, and Georgia.

Those who knew Mimi knew she'd never met a stranger. Her long and happy life was enriched by music, laughter, and friendship and genuine love for all those she met—Mimi loved to serve others and she loved to laugh while doing it. She will undoubtedly be remembered for what she added to the lives of those she knew, those she loved, and even those whose path merely intersected hers at a specific point in time.

Mimi is survived by her son, two daughters, a daughter-in-law Jancy, six grandchildren, four sisters, and a large circle of cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews with whom she cherished greatly. She is preceded in death by her husband Ken, her parents George and Martha, and her father-in-law Ralph.

A funeral mass will be held for Mimi Marcotte at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Parish, 2255 N. Bonnie Brae St., Denton, TX 76207.

Mimi and Ken will be inurned together at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX, 75211 on Sept. 22, 2023 at 11 a.m.
