It is with mixed emotions that we share the crossing of a loving wife, extraordinary mom, adoring grandmother, and proud great grandmother, Mary Jeffers Jones Hughes. Our beautiful mother passed at 4:45 on August 28, 2026.  After 3 long months she is pain free at last.

Mary was born on January 5th, the first born of 6 children. Mary was the daughter of John and Ola Belle Jeffers.  Mary had 4 sisters and 1 brother,  she stayed on this earth to see each one of them safely pass through their life's journey.  She was the surviving sibling.

Mary was amazing, beautiful, and a powerful woman. She succeeded as a loving wife, an adoring mother, proud grandmother and a champion great grandmother.

She started her early career in television, and radio on an international scale in the late 1950's and early 1960's. She was one of the first women to serve in broadcasting management at that time at which she excelled. Mary grew up in a musical family and was a popular vocalist who performed for many years on the road in a trio with her daughters Debra, and Dena. Including Giddyup Gospel a short run gospel music show at the Alvin Opry...

Mary was so very loving, generous and kind.  She never met a stranger and all that met her instantly loved her. She was brilliant, beautiful, incredibly charming, and she loved her entire family with her whole heart.

Mary is mourned by many loving friends and family members. She is survived by her husband Lynn Hughes of 42 years, 3 of her 4 loving children, Debra Jones (who was her oldest and dedicated care giver), Dena Jones (Blue), and spouse Joyce Hays, Randy Jones (son) and his spouse Nicole Jones, and tenderly, she is joining her youngest son Kenneth Wayne Jones who passed last year. Mary has 3 beautiful precious grandchildren Deah Gentry, Alexandria Jones and Dean Jones whom she loved deeply, as well as her beloved step children, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Each and everyone were all in her heart throughout.

Gratefully, Mary is safe now in God's precious arms with all the angels and heavenly hosts.  We are sure that she was met with a joyful chorus of "welcome to Heaven" by all of her loved ones who proceeded her.  Let the Heavens sing "Welcome Home Mary",we are so glad that you are home!!! Mary will be sorely missed by those of us here on earth who love her with all that we are. Thank you mom for being so amazing.
