Martin "Marty" Lynch Gingles, 65, of Carrollton, Texas, passed away unexpectedly while at home on the evening of Friday, May 17, 2024. He was born on March 3, 1959, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to James Hanson and Phoenell Lynch Gingles. The youngest of four, Marty was always considered to be the baby of the family and never outgrew his childlike zeal for living life and having fun with those he loved.

Marty was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who worked hard in various fields to provide well for his family. Upon his slight frame, he carried a great big personality. Marty was patient and kind, smart and funny, a good listener and advisor, and always willing to help someone in need. He could be as serious as he was silly, though he often preferred the latter. Children loved him in part because he, too, was a great big kid at heart. He will be remembered by those who knew and loved him for his warmth, humor, passionate interests, and encyclopedic knowledge of just about anything you can imagine.

In addition to his family and friends, Marty loved rock and roll music, cooking good Southern fare, throwing washers in the backyard, and reminiscing about the ski slopes in Taos, New Mexico. He valued simple things in life like sharing a home-cooked meal, talking with loved ones over strong morning coffee, spending time with his dog, Wally, and jamming on his acoustic guitar.

Marty was most comfortable in well-worn Levi's—it took years to get them just right—a faded ball cap, a faithful t-shirt, and a soft flannel button-down. And don't forget the Vans shoes! But above all, he was most comfortable knowing that those he loved deeply—especially all of his sweet girls—were happy, safe, and well-cared for each day.

Marty is survived by his loving wife, Theresa Gingles; daughters Natalie (Joshua) Minatrea and Sarah Gingles; step-daughter Bridget (Chad) Retz; grandchildren Noa, Eleanor, Sally, and Kirby; sisters Clair Dannhaeuser, Fadra Towers, and Ella Pearl Burt; faithful dog Roz; and many more relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by parents Phoenell Lynch Gingles, Claude Gingles, and James Hanson; and brothers Jimmy Hanson and Claude Burt.

A celebration of Marty's life will take place at the First Presbyterian Church in Lewisville, TX, on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., with a cookie and punch reception immediately following. Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville, TX, is making preparations.

All who knew and loved Marty do well to remember a motto of his. Life is too short to worry about things beyond your control. Instead, as Marty did, "focus on the good."
