Marlene Streng Cohen, affectionately known as "Lene", passed away peacefully on
August 25, 2025, in Argyle, Texas, just two days after celebrating her 86th birthday.

Lene was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on August 23, 1939, to Mel and Anna (Gruber)
Streng, and grew up in a bustling household with her siblings Charles, Barbara, and
David. She attended Mother of Mercy School in Cincinnati, where her caring heart and
natural sense of responsibility pointed her toward a career in nursing. Although life's
turns shifted her professional path, she embodied the nursing spirt throughout her life,
caring for family, friends, and neighbors with enduring kindness and compassion.

She married the love of her life, Jerry Cohen, on December 23, 1960. Together they
raised three children, Karen (Bryan), Mark (Jori), and Bradley (Erin). They later
delighted in six grandchildren: Dane (Jordan), Bethany, Kyle, Alexander (Chris), Hannah
(Josh), and Andrew; and 2 great-grandchildren: Mirabel and Hazel; and cared for many
beloved canine companions over the years. Through more than six decades of
marriage, Marlene and Jerry built a home rooted in love, laughter, and faith.

Marlene's life was marked by joyful service. She volunteered tirelessly at her children's
schools, organized neighborhood block parties, and was a key founding member of
Grey Matters North Texas Brain Tumor Support Group, a support group and community
for brain tumor survivors. Her faith guided her every step and she was deeply involved
in many Catholic parishes, most recently at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. She
served in many roles in her churches, including as president of the Women of St. Philip.
She lived her life with "the heart of a servant", always giving, always smiling, always
finding joy in lifting up others.

Family and friends remember her for her contagious laugh, her boundless energy, and
her love of dancing. Her siblings describe her as the glue of the family, the one who
could lighten any room and steady them through difficult times. She cared for her father
during his battle with Alzheimer's and walked alongside her family through loss with
grace and strength. To her grandchildren, she was the grandmother who played games,
read stories, gave the biggest hugs, and never missed a chance to say "I love you".

To her husband Jerry, she was a devoted partner; supportive, compassionate,
energetic, and loving throughout their 64 years together. To her children and
grandchildren, she was an example of kindness, faith, and joy. To her siblings, she was
not only a sister but also a mother figure, a confidant, and a lifelong friend.

Marlene is survived by her husband Jerry; children Karen (Bryan), Mark (Jori), and
Bradley (Erin); grandchildren Dane (Jordan), Bethany, Kyle, Alexander (Chris), Hannah
(Josh), and Andrew; great-grandchildren Mirabel and Hazel; and many extended family
and friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mel and
Anna Streng, and her siblings Charles (Patricia), Barbara (Ray) and David (Mary).

A Funeral Mass to honor and remember the wonderful life of Marlene "Lene" Streng
Cohen will be held at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Flower Mound, Texas on
September 12, 2025 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) or Grey Matters (greymatters.us) in Marlene's
memory, continuing her legacy of compassion and care.

Marlene's life was a testament to love, faith, and joyful service. She will be deeply
missed and the lessons she taught and the example she set will continue to guide all
who were blessed to know her.
