Joe was born on May 1, 1944, in Dallas, Texas, and passed away on August 12, 2023. After graduating from Carrollton High School, he went into ministry for a short time before enlisting in the Air Force. He served for four years and spoke of how cold it was when he was stationed in Alaska.  In addition to being a veteran, Joe was a Golden Gloves boxer with several awards and accolades. In 1962 Joe served as a councilman for the City of Farmers Branch where he also served on the Fire Department.  In 1971 he was voted Farmers Branch fireman of the year.  When he left the fire department in the mid-1970s, he began an entirely different career as a Backhoe Operator.  In the 80's he had his own company, McCutcheon Backhoe Service.

Joe married Caroline in 1966.  Together they raised four daughters:  Meloni, Laurel, April, and LaMonica.  Joe and Caroline were married for 26 beautiful years before she passed away in 1992.  He was also proceeded in death by his parents, W.A. McCutcheon, Josephine Bates McCutcheon, and brother Jerry McCutcheon.

Joe is survived by daughter Meloni and husband Darrel Schrader, Laurel King, April and husband James Conine, LaMonica and husband Brett Archer.  Grandchildren Krystine Caldwell, Meagan Schrader, Cody and wife Jamie Pollard, Jorden King, Jessica, and husband Brandon Brown, Jamie and husband Justin Marin, Justin and wife Valerie Conine, Hannah Archer, and Gage Archer.  Great Grandchildren: Renae Caldwell, Hayes Moore, Angel Salazar, Oliver Conine, Liam Brown, Haley Gividen, James Gividen, Landon Conine, Layla Marin, and niece Cheri McCutcheon.

Joe cherished the friendship that he held with Kenny Page, Glenn Preston, Kris Christianson, John Wayne Williams, and Joe Derrington.  The friendship they had was more of a brotherhood that withstood the test of time, lasting many many years.

It is hard to sum up a life well lived and a man who was so well-loved.  It is equally difficult to list all the family and friends that meant so much to him.

Joe was old-fashioned with a strong streak of rebel.  He worked hard, played harder, and loved fiercely. His passions were all things outdoors.  His main hobbies were hunting, fishing, and gardening, taking such pride in his beautiful yard year-round.

Joe was a strong believer in Christ. He drew comfort knowing he would be reunited with Caroline, his mama, daddy, and his brother. Joe wanted all of his grandchildren to be honorary pallbearers.
