It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of April, a retired Police Officer, Advanced Peace Officer, and cherished community servant, whose legacy of service and dedication will forever inspire those whose lives she touched. Born March 15th, 1951, April devoted her life to the service and safety of others, serving the State of Texas and Highland Village Police Department (HVPD) with distinction from June 1993 to June 2015.

Throughout her remarkable career with HVPD , April earned numerous commendations and accolades for her tireless efforts, including the prestigious Paul Harris Rotarian Award, the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers Lifetime Membership, and numerous Principal Awards. She was celebrated for her years of teaching programs such as DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and Law Enforcement Teaching Students (LETS), fostering trust and education among Highland Village elementary children.

Her compassion and commitment extended beyond the classroom. April organized youth bicycle drives, led Bike Rodeos and Safety Patrol initiatives, and was a regular, inspiring speaker at events like Career on Wheels. Her dedication earned her the Hero of Denton County Award, a testament to her unwavering service to the community she loved.

April also played a vital role in organizing the first and subsequent TX Fallen Tribute Rides, honoring the sacrifices of her fellow officers. She was the recipient of countless On-The-Spot Awards, hundreds of thank-you cards and letters, and the heartfelt admiration of those who were privileged to work alongside her.

Beyond her professional achievements, April was a devoted friend, mentor, and beacon of kindness to all and if you knew her, you also knew that she was a true animal lover and advocate for each and every one of them she came in contact with.  Her memory lives on in the many lives she enriched and the lasting impact of her selfless contributions to her community.
