Mansel Woodford Williams, born August 8, 1940, in Wheeler County, Texas, passed away surrounded by family who loved him deeply. He grew up on a farm near Mobeetie, Texas, with his parents, S.W. and Mattie Williams, and his brothers, R.H. and Marion J. Those early years shaped the steady work ethic, humility, and quiet strength that defined him throughout his life.
Mansel graduated from Texas Tech University in 1963 with a degree in Mathematics. Shortly after, he joined the Air Force Officer Training School and served his country with honor in the United States Air Force. During his service, he received several awards, including the National Defense Service Medal, and was honorably discharged as Captain in April 1967. He later earned his private pilot license, and he delighted in flying with his family.
His professional career included dedicated tenures with Texaco and GTE, ultimately retiring from Verizon. Throughout his work, he was known for his reliability, intelligence, and unwavering integrity.
In 1960, Mansel married his first love, Judith Ann Christian, and together they adopted their son, John Mansel Williams, in 1973. After Judy’s passing in 2007, Mansel found companionship again and married Nickie Dodson in 2009. Above all else, Mansel loved his family immensely, and his devotion to them was the constant thread running through every chapter of his life.
Mansel is preceded in death by his wives, Judith Ann Christian Williams and Nickie Dodson Williams, as well as his parents and brothers.
He is survived by his son, John Williams of Rowlett, and his wife, Mindy, parents to Silas Blanton and Evan Williams.
He is also survived by his step‑son, Brody Dodson of Flower Mound, and his wife, Michelle, parents to Meagan and Peyton; his step‑daughter, Crysti Elder of Highland Village, and her husband, Jon, parents to Jessica Ward; and his step‑daughter, Mysti Dodson of Lewisville.
A service honoring Mansel’s life will be held Monday, October 5, 2026, at 3:00 PM CT at Mulkey‑Mason Funeral Home, 740 S Edmonds Ln, Lewisville, TX 75067.
