Our Mother has gone home to be with our Daddy. It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Mamie Roberts Pannell, a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world peacefully on January 8, 2025, at the age of 91.

Mamie was born on November 14, 1933, in Menard, Texas to Clyde Cecil and Willie Mae Roberts. She graduated from McCamey High School and attended Texas State College for Women, now known as Texas Woman's University. Mamie and Charlie Pannell married on August 1, 1954, and settled in Lewisville, Texas to raise their family Deborah Lynn, Chester Ray, Donna Kay and Dixie Ann.

She lived a life rich with love, resilience, and joy, touching the hearts of everyone she met. As a steadfast matriarch, she dedicated her life to nurturing her family, instilling values of kindness, compassion, and perseverance in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mamie's warmth extended beyond her family. She was active in the community with unwavering support. Whether through her volunteer work in PTA, classroom mom, carpool, school nurse, vacation bible school, Girl Scout Leader, or tutoring for adult literacy, Mamie created a sense of belonging and love that will be profoundly missed. As her children grew older Mamie was the manager of a local fabric shop, Fabrific.

Mamie was preceded in death by her parents Clyde Cecil and Willie Mae Roberts, her husband Charlie Chester Pannell, son Chester Ray Pannell, sisters Doris Fay Roberts, Bettie Grace Watson Briggs, brothers Clyde Cecil Roberts Jr., and Willie Clyde Roberts.

She is survived by her children Debbie Genova, Donna Lester, Dixie Peebles, son-in-law Chris Peebles, and daughter-in-law Shirley Pannell. Her grandchildren, Debbie's children Holly Genova, Robert Anthony Genova III, Chester's children Cody Pannell, Amanda Harris, and Justin Pannell, Steven Gardner, Rhonda Gardner, Donna's children Kimberly Miller, Aaron Lester, Dixie's children Alexander Peebles, Lauren Williams. Great grandchildren, Cadence Genova, Cyle Pannell, Jack Cornwell, Jake Cornwell, Samatha Gardner, Tristan Gardner, McKenzie Sterling, Jordan Sterling, Claire Miller, Emma Kate Williams and Jackson Williams. Along with her loving and caring sister Clara Stromquist, brother Delbert Roberts, sisters-in-law Carolynd Roberts and Barrilyn Roberts. Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and many special friends. Each person she loved carries a piece of her spirit with them, a testament to the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.

Mamie's remarkable journey through life was marked by many passions, including reading, gardening, sewing, as she was a great seamstress. She also enjoyed sitting on the front porch helping neighbors Anna and Vanessa with homework. She found joy in the little things and taught those around her the importance of celebrating life's simple pleasures. As we say goodbye to Mamie, we remember her unwavering love, kind spirit, devotion to God and the indelible marks she left in our hearts.

A graveside gathering will be held on Saturday January 18, 2025, 11:00 a.m., McCurley Cemetery, 1400 McGee Lane. A visitation with loved ones will be at Thrive Recreation Center 1950 S. Valley Pkwy, Lewisville, Tx 75067, between 12-4 p.m.
