Madeleine Kay Fell, of Hurst, Texas, passed away on November 1, 2024 after a brief illness. Kay was born on September 21, 1940, to Marvin Vester New and Myrtis New in Mexia, Texas. She graduated from Navasota High School in 1958 and from Arlington State College (now UT Arlington) in 1962.

After college, Kay began her teaching career. In 1963, as an English teacher at Euless Junior High, she met math teacher Roy Fell. They married on December 19, 1964. While taking a brief time away from teaching to have her two children, Laura and Denton, Kay completed her Master's degree in English from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1974. She returned to teaching and accepted a position at Tarrant County College Northeast Campus. She enjoyed teaching Developmental Reading and English as a Second Language where she could support students who were struggling to read and write at a college level. Kay finished her teaching career at Tarrant County College South Campus and joined her husband in retirement.

For over 50 years, Kay was a member of St. Philip Presbyterian Church in Hurst. She enjoyed serving there in a variety of ways, joining the Communion Guild, volunteering in the church office, and being a deacon. During her retirement, Kay sought out more opportunities to do volunteer work, including helping out in the school library at her grandchildren's school. She was eager to help out a friend, family member, or a stranger whenever she could.

Kay loved to spend time in her yard, tending to plants and bird feeders. She delighted in all holidays and enjoyed decorating her home with seasonal items and wearing fun shirts and socks for each occasion. Kay was devoted to her children and grandchildren, who will miss her dearly.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Vester New and Myrtis New, and her husband, Roy Fell. She is survived by her daughter Laura Griffin and son-in-law Wess, her son Denton Fell and daughter-in-law Lisa, and grandchildren Abby and Austin Fell.

A memorial service celebrating Kay's life will be held on November 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Philip Presbyterian Church in Hurst, Texas. Graveside services will take place at DFW National Cemetery and will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Kay's family requests that donations be made in her name to St. Philip Presbyterian Church or the City of Hurst Animal Services and Adoption Center.
