Lyless Elaine (Lindloff) Winter was called home on July 25, 2025 in Plano, Texas, after a long illness.

Lyless was born November 13, 1952 in Watertown, Wisconsin, and spent much of her childhood in South Dakota and Minnesota.  She lived most of her adult life in Wausau, Wisconsin.

A lifelong educator, Lyless earned her bachelor's degree in Education from Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota.  Later, she earned her master's degree in Education, Elementary Reading, & Literacy from Walden University, with honors.

She used her experience and knowledge throughout her teaching career.  She taught grades 1-3 at Salem Lutheran School in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  In the Wausau School District, she worked as a teacher's aide in Early Childhood and in Special Education.  She studied the Hmong language while working with ESL students of various ages.  She finished her career as a 4-year-old kindergarten teacher at Riverview Elementary in Wausau, Wisconsin.  After her retirement in 2016, she moved to Leesburg, Florida.

Lyless loved learning about other places and cultures.  Traveling and sharing new experiences with her family were important to her.  She visited much of the U.S. and also traveled to Canada, Mexico, and Europe during her life.

She enjoyed crafts of all kinds, including sewing and knitting, making pottery, and creating her large and beautiful collection of Ukrainian Easter eggs.  She was a talented pianist and was a church organist for many years.

Lyless was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Donald and Mildred (Duddeck) Lindloff, and an infant brother.

She is survived by her children, Anna (Mitchell) Horton of Carrollton, Texas, Lucas (Tessa) Winter of San Clemente, California, and Maria Winter of Carrollton, Texas; one grandson, Michael Horton; a sister, Linda (Del) Draeger of Ocala, Florida, and many nieces, nephews, and good friends.

She touched the lives of many throughout her life and her career, and she will be missed by her loved ones.

A small service will be held at Mulkey Mason funeral home in Lewisville, Texas.  A graveside service and internment at the Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown, Wisconsin is planned for a future date.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
