Louis (Butch or Louie) William Sleigher died on November 6, 2023, at his son's home with other family members at his bedside. Louis was the son of Lewis Sylvester Sleigher and Dorothy Joyce (McClain) Sleigher. He is survived by his brother Michael Jude Sleigher of East Butler, PA., two sisters, Sister Stella Marie, S.C.M.C., formerly Kathleen Sleigher of Baltic, Conn., and Joanne Halahan of Antioch, Calif.

Lou was born in Butler but was raised in East Butler. He attended St. Peter's Elementary School, St Paul's Elementary School, St Fidelis Seminary School for 1.5 years and graduated from Butler High School in 1958. He joined the USMC (United States Marine Corps) during his senior year of high school and continued to serve in the reserves for four years. After high school he attended Allegheny Technical School in Pittsburgh, PA., for 1.5 years then moved to Palo Alto, California with his Uncle Robert (Bob) McClain and his family.  On November 11th, 1962, Louis joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and 2 years later was called to serve as a missionary in the Dallas Texas Mission on October 25th, 1964.

After completing his 2-year missionary service he returned to Palo Alto, CA., and worked for Hewlett Packard as an electronic technician. He met Verna Yvonne (Vonnie) Ray Sleigher and married her in the Oakland CA. Temple on September 17th, 1966. As a married couple they moved to Santa Clara, CA., and had three children: Tina Michelle, William Von, and David Von Sleigher. In 1976 their young family moved to Las Alamos, New Mexico, where Louis would work at the lab located there for 3 years. Then Louis had the opportunity to return to Dallas, Texas with his family to work with Varian Company as a Field Service Engineer. He lived in The Colony, Texas for 43 years.

Both Lou and Vonnie served in the Dallas, TX, Temple for 16 years where they would go to the temple twice a week. While serving in the temple Lou served as a supervisor, trainer, and assistant supervisor. This continued until COVID 19 occurred and everything was shut down. During COVID in May 2020, Lou and Vonnie moved to Las Vegas, NV, to live with their son, William Von and his wife Christi Sleigher. While living in Las Vegas, Lou and Vonnie had the opportunity to serve in the Las Vegas, NV, Temple for 1 year and served as baptistry supervisors. Then in August 2021, Lou and Vonnie moved with their son and his wife to Knoxville, TN for their son's job. After moving Lou and Vonnie served in the Nashville, TN, Temple for 3 months before Lou's health made the 2.5-hour trip impossible to make.

Lou's kidneys started to fail in the fall of 2022. When they reached less than 10% functioning ability, Lou was put in hospice care on June 14th, 2023. Lou's health slowly declined until his death.

Lou is survived by his wife Vonnie Sleigher. His three children; Tina Michelle Longest, William Von Sleigher, and David Von Sleigher and 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Services for Louis William Sleigher will take place on Monday, November 20, 2023, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints chapel located at 6800 Anderson Dr, The Colony Tx 75056. Arrangements for Louis' burial is being handled by Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home 740 S. Edmonds Lane, Lewisville, TX 75067.
