Leona E. Jones McLean, 85, of Flower Mound, Texas, passed away on October 25, 2024, at her home.

Leona, fondly known as "Lee" to friends and "Punchie" to family, was born in Victoria, Texas, the seventh of ten children to Hardie and Myra Jones.

Leona Jones grew up in Santa Rosa Texas graduating from Santa Rosa High School and then attended Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas. In the late 50's she met her future husband, Robert "Mac" McLean, who was in the Air Force and stationed in Harlingen, TX.  As the story goes, they met at a drive-in restaurant in Harlingen where each was hanging out with their friends.

Leona and Mac were married in Santa Rosa, Texas on June 3, 1961, and were stationed in Texas, Tennessee, Azores Portugal, and Illinois. This final location of O'Fallon, Illinois ended up being the place that Lee and Mac settled and lived for over 30 years. During that time, Leona worked as a noon time supervisor in O'Fallon School District 90 before becoming a Teacher's Aide at LaVerna Evans Grade School.  Leona was an Aide for almost 20 years before retiring.

In 2005 Leona and Mac moved to Flower Mound, Texas to be closer to their children (and eventually grandchildren).

Family was important to Leona, and she never missed an opportunity to get together with her brother and sisters.  She also loved living close to her children James and Sherrill and she especially loved doting on and spoiling her beloved grandchildren Andrew and Jordyn.

Leona is survived by her children and grandchildren, her sister Helma Ellison, brothers-in-law Harold Lauderdale, Jimmy Mortensen and Dick Bottos as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Saturday November 9, 2024, at 11am with the funeral to follow at 12noon.  The services will be located at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home at 740 S. Edmonds Lane Lewisville, Texas 75067 with a short grave side service to follow at Rolling Oaks Memorial Center in Coppell, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, Leona's family requests donations be made in her name to either the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
