Kristi Poyner, beloved daughter, sister, and friend, was called to eternal rest on August 6, 2026 in Lewisville, Texas.

Kristi was born in Dallas, Texas and moved to Athens, Texas as young child.  She attended K-12 schools in Athens, Texas.  After graduating from Athens High School, she pursued a Bachelor of Science from Stephen F. Austin University.  Following her graduation from SFA, she moved home to be a paraprofessional in Athens ISD, until her early retirement from Bel Air Elementary.

Kristi was brought to the waters of Holy Baptism at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Irving, Texas and received the Rite of Confirmation at Trinity Lutheran Church in Tyler, Texas.  Kristi loved her family and friends fiercely always sharing the love of Jesus.

Kristi was truly a special person whose warmth, positivity, and loving spirit touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She had a gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and cared for, and her smile and kind heart will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her parents, George and Jan Poyner of Lewisville, Texas, and her sisters Stephanie Poyner of Lewisville, Texas, Angela Fitch (Jonathan) of Shoreview, Minnesota, and Jennifer Ockinga (Andrew) of Rogers, Arkansas.  She is also the "favorite auntie" of nieces Elizabeth Fitch and Dakota Ockinga and nephew Xander Fitch.

A visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, August 11 at Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Flower Mound, Texas from 6:00-8:00pm.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 12 at 10:00am at Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Flower Mound, Texas and live-streamed at log.org.  Interment will follow at Round Grove Cemetery in Lewisville, Texas.  Memorial gifts may be given to Lamb of God Lutheran Church Music Ministry-Children's Music.
