Kenneth Holland, retired United States Postal Service Postmaster of Lewisville, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, October 9, 2023.

Kenneth was born November 2, 1946, to Elbert and Sallie Belle Holland in Terrell, Texas. Kenneth was a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Dalton Holland.

He leaves behind his wife of thirty-two years, Terry Holland; sons, Keith (Julie) Holland and Chris (Nicole) Holland; grandchildren, Kaleb, Jordyn, and Kaitlyn Holland, and Madalynn Harvey-Holland; stepdaughters, Mandy Preston, and Laura (Phil) Preston; brother, Bob Holland, and sister, Martha Wilson; friend, Charlotte Holloway; and an extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Over thirty-two years, Ken worked his way up through the ranks and reached the level of postmaster at three locations: Farmersville, McKinney, and Lewisville. In 2001, Kenneth retired from the post office after which he immediately sought out dual citizenship in both Texas and Colorado.

After a short stint in East Texas at Lake Tawakoni, he and his family settled in Justin, Texas. During the hotter months, he migrated to Colorado, where he pursued his many passions of fishing, wood working, hiking, river rafting, and 'jeeping' with visiting family and friends. When not running the hills, he volunteered at the Visitor Center in historic Twin Lakes, Colorado. There, he beguiled visitors with tall tales of wild west cowboys, greedy prospectors, and ladies-of-the-night. He trained many volunteers, who would later borrow his eloquent turns of phrase, such as "Welcome to the Red Rooster Saloon, it started off as a grocery store, but as the mining traffic picked up, they soon realized they could sell a lot more beer, than baloney". If you ever visit Twin Lakes, you can see many examples of his carpentry skills around the village including the beautiful park bench on the north side of the Visitor's Center, the fish display stand inside the building, and his wonderful, wooden flower baskets. Kenneth also sold many of his birdhouses and walking sticks through the local artist co-op, the Shooting Star Gallery. Over the years, Ken and his wife, Terry, were regulars at Friends of Twin Lakes Bingo, picnics, seminars, and happy hours.

When back home in Texas, Kenneth enjoyed treasure hunting at estate sales, country dancing, and volunteering with his stepdaughter, Mandy's, Special Olympics team, the Lewisville Lightning. His favorite music was by "Mighty" Merle Haggard and his favorite treat was Blue Bell Ice Cream...a Texas boy through and through! Ken had a big heart and always made sure everyone was having a good time and enjoying themselves. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and many friends.
