Kathryn Ann Lavelle Leos (Kathy) of Highland Village, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 16, 2025, after an eight-year battle with cancer.

Born on December 31, 1947, in Oklahoma City, Kathy was adopted by Pat and June Lavelle. She was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma alongside her younger brother. Following her graduation from Bishop Kelly High School in 1966, she went on to attend The University of Tulsa, earning a Bachelor of Science in Radio, Television and Film and a Master of Science in Communications.

Kathy began her career at Southwestern Bell Telecom in Tulsa, where she met her husband of nearly 49 years, David Leos. They were married in August of 1976 and welcomed their daughter in June of 1978. Shortly after, they relocated to Texas where they welcomed their first son in April of 1980 and second son in January of 1983.

While her children were young, Kathy stayed home to care for them. She spent countless hours volunteering for their schools and various extracurriculars. Once they were older, she re-entered the workforce as a pre-school teacher at Das Kinder Haus. Kathy went on to dabble in retail, real estate, and education, but ultimately went back to the telecom field working for Verizon as an account manager. She was eventually drawn back to the education world and joined the Lewisville Extended School Day program as an accounting clerk where she worked until her retirement.

Kathy was known for her patience and kindness. Her soft voice had a calming effect, and she always put those in her presence at ease. She continuously saw the good in people and encouraged others to do the same. In her spare time, Kathy enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. As a devout Catholic, she remained an active member of the church as her health allowed. She loved gardening, puzzles, games, and a good romantic comedy. Those who knew her loved her, and her voice will carry on in our hearts, forever encouraging us to stay positive and reminding us that all things happen for a reason.

Kathy is preceded in death by her mother, June Lavelle; her father, Pat Lavelle; and her brother, Michael Lavelle. She is survived by her husband, David Leos, of Highland Village, Texas; daughter Jennifer Grimes, son-in-law Michael Grimes, and grandchildren, Emerson and Lawson Grimes of Austin, Texas; son Benjamin Leos, daughter-in-law Chantelle Leos, and grandchildren Brenton & Peyton Schnetz of Dallas, Texas; and son Matthew Leos, daughter-in-law Vanessa Leos, and grandchildren Stella and Lucca Leos of Lewisville, Texas.

A Celebration of Life for Kathy will take place in the spring 2025.
