Our beloved sister in Christ, Karen Marie Fruendt, born May 4, 1947 in Oklahoma City,
OK, entered into God's Kingdom on November 30, 2025 after an eight-year battle with
ovarian cancer. Karen never allowed adversity to take hold of her love of life and
adventure, especially the adventures with her late husband, John, and their family. She
was always grateful for everything God had provided her.

Karen was introduced to John by his sister Maguerite in February 1963 at Zion Lutheran
Church in Oklahoma City. They were engaged December 24, 1966 and were married
May 26, 1967. Karen attended Oklahoma State University with John until he graduated,
and they moved to Irving, TX. There, they started a wonderful life together, were active
members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and raised two sons in the Lutheran
faith.

After almost 35 years in Irving, John and Karen retired to Holly Lake Ranch, TX, but
retirement was never in the picture. After attending Trinity Lutheran in Tyler, TX, John
and Karen were led to help bring to life a second campus in Hawkins, TX where they
served for many years. Holly Lake Ranch, also known to her grandchildren as

"grandma's house in the woods", became a magical place for food, fun, laughter,
fireworks, bear hugs, and exploring the woods on a golf cart! It is here that wonderful
memories were made, and Karen was the one who made it happen.

Due to failing health for both John and Karen, they decided to move back to the
metroplex and were able to be closer to family. In 2019, they joined Lamb of God in
Flower Mound, TX and quickly found ways to support several ministries there. They
both were involved with the Holy Cow Smokers Disaster Relief – John on cleanup and
chainsaw duty and Karen preparing thousands of brownies and serving those in need.
Karen was also able to help with the Youth Ministry. She knew that building a legacy of
faith was important to her. Karen's greatest joy was her grandchildren, and she would
always speak of how blessed she was to witness all four of their Confirmations.

Karen is reunited in Heaven with her husband John, son Brian, and parents Carl and
Dorothy Shannon. She is survived by many loving family members, including her sister
EC Thompson; her son Steven and his wife Patricia; her daughter-in-law Rhonda; and
her grandchildren, Garrett and his future wife Isabel, Aubrie, Cameron and Liam; all of
whom she cared for dearly. We will miss her energetic spirit, her servant's heart, her
unwavering love for family and friends, and her ability to find the positive in everything.
Karen truly was an amazing sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a friend to
all and a stranger to no one.
