June Elizabeth Kyle Tunnell ("The Angel Lady")

June Elizabeth Kyle Tunnell was born on Easter Sunday, April 1st,1934 in Decatur, Tennessee and passed at 91 years old in Flower Mound, Texas on March 13th, 2026.

Her long life was one of love, spirituality, deep human connections and healing others. It began on a beautiful farm where she grew up in a large, but tight-knit family made up of her brother, mother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Standing out within her community at an early age, June played the piano and sang at Concord United Methodist church, was a cheerleader for Meigs County High School, and was homecoming queen in both high school and college.

June's strong sense of faith guided her life down a path of helping others. With a master's degree in counseling from North Texas University, she spent 29 years serving children in the Dallas Independent School District, first as a teacher and then as a counselor. Helping people (especially kids) navigate emotions and difficult situations was both a gift and a calling. Even after retiring, she continued to run group therapy sessions alongside her friends and colleagues within the therapy community and substitute teach at elementary schools.

In her spare time, June poured her creativity into crafting. She had a knack for seeing beauty in everyday objects and loved to repurpose them into creations she could share with others. She was most known for her angels made from Cracker Barrel syrup bottles that she gave freely for decades to family, friends, loved ones and even those she briefly crossed paths with to whom she felt a connection. Many strangers were moved by her generous spirit and joy, and she became known as "The Angel Lady."

But perhaps the most important work she did was as the matriarch of a large family where she established a solid foundation for love, faith and creativity that runs strong through her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren—and her legacy will continue to flow through future generations.

June's spirit will live on in the memories and hearts of every person who was lucky enough to know her. The woman who spent her time on Earth sharing angels with others is now at home among them in Heaven.

Grandchildren: Justin Tunnell Morris (and wife Amy), Aaron Tunnell (and Elena), Shannon Tunnell, Cameron Tunnell (and wife Shannon), Briana Gunderman (and husband Ben), Crystal Tunnell, Shea Tunnell (and Rustin) Heather Tunnell, Keely Bass (and husband Garrett), and Taylor Malone (and wife Victoria).

Great Grandchildren: Makayla, Olin, Xander, Lucian, Strathmore and Eleanor June

Extended family: Libby Kyle (niece), Alley Houston (great niece), Kaiden Houston (great great nephew), Jessica Star (dear friend and stepmother to her children), and many cousins whom she loved
