In Loving Memory of Joyce Marian Allan

Joyce Marian Allan, age 85, of Highland Village, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026. She was born on July 5, 1940, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Anthony and Dorothy Unzen.

Joyce grew up in Duluth, where she attended Saint Scholastica High School and graduated in 1958. She continued her education at the University of Minnesota Duluth, earning her associate's degree. After college, she began her professional career as an insurance underwriter in Duluth. It was during this time that she met Donald Allan, the love of her life.

Joyce and Don were married in 1962, beginning a remarkable 68-year journey together marked by devotion, resilience, and deep love. As a proud Air Force wife, Joyce embraced a life of service and adaptability, supporting Don through fourteen relocations during his thirty-year military career. She was the steady foundation of their family, raising their three sons—Scott, Todd, and Chris—with unwavering dedication. While Don served, Joyce ensured her boys were active in sports and scouting, always present to guide and care for them in every stage of life.

Joyce was also deeply involved in the military community. She mentored junior officers' wives, volunteered at the Air Force wives' thrift store, and, as a senior officer's wife, led efforts within the non-commissioned officers club with grace and leadership.

Following Don's retirement, Joyce embraced a season of travel and togetherness. Hawaii held a special place in her heart, where she found joy walking along the warm beaches with the Pacific Ocean at her feet. Her generous spirit extended beyond her family, as she faithfully supported charitable organizations, including Alley Cats, diabetes and cancer foundations, and Boys Town.

Joyce is survived by her devoted husband, Donald Allan of Highland Village, Texas; her sons, Todd Allan (Virginia) of Fort Worth, Texas, and Chris Allan of Highland Village, Texas; and her cherished grandchildren, Donald Allan (Lauren), Calvin Isham, Cody Allan, Christa Allan, Evelyn Gutierrez (Aldan), and Devin Heath (Kiley). She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Wren, Rhome, Zoe, John, Aria, and Gianna.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Scott Allan; her brother, Bob Unzen; her sister, Jean Rutka; and her parents, Anthony and Dorothy Unzen.

Joyce lived a life rooted in faith, guided by the belief that loving one's family creates a foundation of strength, dignity, and compassion. Her warmth, resilience, and generous heart leave a lasting legacy in all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, March 23, 2026, 11:30 am, at Mulkey-Mason Chapel. There will be a  visitation  one hour prior to the service. The interment is Monday, March 23, 2026, 2:00 pm, at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
