Joseph "Joe" Gardsbane of Flower Mound, Texas, passed away peacefully the morning of Saturday September 27.

Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Paul Nathan Gardsbane and Edith "Lollie" Gold Gardsbane. Joe's life was a gift from the very beginning. Growing up in Shreveport, he spent countless days with his siblings Barbara and Susan, his beloved cousins, and his lifelong friend Mike Gulley.

After graduating Bryd High School, he attended Northwestern State University where he met the love of his life and future wife, Frances. Following his graduation and marriage, Joe volunteered for the armed services and served with distinction as commissioned officer, eventually attaining the rank of Lt. Colonel in the Army Reserves.

Life after active duty could be described as bustling with opportunities that included obtaining a degree in Audiology, working in the shipyards of New Orleans, teaching Special Education, before settling into his true passion law enforcement and received a degree in Criminal Justice.

Joe would spend the next 35 years in law enforcement, 25 years at the federal level and 10 years at county level. His federal career began on the US & Mexico border as a Border Patrol Agent before promotion to the rank of Senior Special Agent. He also proudly served as a Deputy Sheriff of Denton County, as a Juvenile Court Bailiff.

Joe was a well-traveled man, due to his careers taking him overseas to Germany and back.  Eventually setting in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Laredo, Chicago, Lewisville and finally Flower Mound.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Barbara Ruth Gardsbane.

Joe's life was spent filled with family, friends and such varied hobbies as reading, hunting, fishing, target shooting, 4 wheeling, and embroidery. Joe is survived by his loving family: wife France Hunt Gardsbane; sister Susan Gardsbane Cross and her husband Michael Cross; daughter Ann Michelle Gardsbane Wood and her husband Barry B Wood; son Michael Paul Gardsbane and his wife Audrey Welling Gardsbane; and grandchildren Ethan Jacob Gardsbane and Grace Kathryn Gardsbane.
