John "JD" Douglas Voss, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed from this life into the loving arms of Jesus on April 30, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on November 20, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas, John lived a life marked by love, loyalty, hard work, and deep devotion to his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas Cleo Voss and Priscilla Lee Voss; his brother, Terry Voss; and all those who welcomed him home in eternity.

John graduated from Burbank High School in San Antonio before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force from April 1960 to April 1964, receiving an honorable discharge. During that same season of life, he married the love of his life, Rose Ann Ellis, on August 14, 1960. Their marriage was a beautiful example of unwavering love and commitment, lasting an extraordinary 65 years. Together they built a life rooted in faithfulness, laughter, and family.

After his military service, John and Rose returned from Maryland to San Antonio, where he began his engineering career with Simplex Time Recorder. In 1977, they moved to Lewisville, Texas, where they made their home and created countless cherished memories. John dedicated 50 years of loyal service to Simplex Time Recorder/Tyco before retiring in 2014—a testament to his strong work ethic, perseverance, and character.

John was truly a friend to all who knew him. He had a warm spirit, a kind heart, and a steady presence that made people feel welcome and valued. He was a loving husband, a proud dad, a treasured grandpa, uncle, and great-grandpa. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his family, whom he loved deeply and spoke of with pride.

He found happiness in life's simple pleasures: camping under the open sky, fishing quiet waters, grilling for those he loved, making his famous chili, cooking pinto beans, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. He especially loved warm weather and the comfort of being surrounded by those closest to him.

Those left to celebrate his life include his beloved wife, Rose Ann Voss; daughter Julie Ann Pollard; daughter Michelle Leina Mitchell and husband Gary; son Douglas Robert Voss and wife Traci; sister Phyllis Rowe and husband Chuck; grandchildren Jessica Hassell and husband Timmy, Jordan Pollard, Braden Bohannan, Casey Bohannan, Hunter Aguirre, Hannah Voss, and Hudson Voss; great-granddaughter Weslee Hassell; and many cherished nieces and nephews: Katie, Jenna, Kaylei, Jake, Kevin, Terri, Aaron, Earl, Jeff, Sharon Antu and husband George, extended family members, friends and neighbors.

John's passing leaves a space in the hearts of those who loved him that can never truly be filled. Yet the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the memories he created will remain forever. His life reminds us how precious and fragile our time is, and how important it is to treasure each moment with the people we love.

He will be missed beyond words, remembered beyond measure, and loved beyond this life.

A private service will be held at the Dallas Fort-Worth National Cemetery on May 14th, 2026.
