Joan Belle Richardson-

Born on June 9, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri, Joan Belle Grantham Richardson returned to Our Lord on January 22, 2026. Joan was a strong academic student. She was President of her high school honor society and was recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Organization. Joan was offered a Presidential Scholarship to the University of Kansas. Joan also received a Curator's Scholarship to the University of Missouri, where she completed her bachelor's degree in Education. She furthered her education at the University of Virginia with a master's in Education. She also studied at Texas Women's University which led her to become the Educational Lead Diagnostician at Lewisville High School.  She was a member of the Creekwood Christian Church and an active member in the local garden club. She was an expert at decorating and interior design.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, John and Laura Grantham, her husband of 45 years Billy (Bill) Kay and her oldest daughter, Jacqueline. Joan is survived by her daughters: Mary Ali and Teresa Ricardson, and her sister, Barbara Gardner of Kansas City, Missouri, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  A private memorial service will be held to celebrate Joan's life, and afterward, will be laid to rest next to her husband at Roselawn Cemetery in Denton, Texas. She will always be remembered as an elegant, soft-spoken, and compassionate woman firmly grounded by her faith in Christ.
